Wanted: rooftop bar...

Decent rooftop bar in brooklyn or manhattan, no cover, no crazy expensive drinks. All the ones I've been to thus far have been the shortest building on the block, so rooftop doesnt help. The boy loves the view of the city at night *dont we all?*

HELP!

Metropolitan Museum of Art roof garden. The entry fee is still "suggested" and they have great views

I regret never having been to the roof of the 'JRG Fashion Cafe' on Flatbush near the corner of Atlantic. It's really one of the most improbable places for such a thing.
  • Hands down, the best rooftop bar is the one nobody knows about.

    The Liberty Heights Taproom.

Corner of Van Dyke and Dwight in Red Hook. Six Point brewery located in the back of the courtyard. All Six Point on tap, all the time, direct from the brewery in the backyard. HUGE roof top deck. Brick oven pizza. Live music. Pool table.

Too bad they're on vacation until September 9th.

I came in here to recommend the Alma rooftop bar/restaurant, but I see someone has already beat me to it.

Another nice place, though in Manhattan, is called Rare View. It's the ground level bar of a Hotel. I believe it's on 36th street and Lexington Ave. It's a little on the expensive side, though, but it's the best view of the Empire State Building that I have ever seen!!! So Beautiful!

Edit: I have Passed by the JRG Cafe many times, but have never been to it. I think the outdoor section would be a great place to have a party, but my question is what is the view like? The building is not that tall. Do you see more than the Atlantic Mall and some parking lots?

You ain't missing much -- only a fabulous view of Target and water-downed drinks served by a 10-year-old. Nevertheless, JRG Fashion Cafe provides a friendly, comfortable space to socialize and relax.

If your typical eye candy is signage for Chuck E. Cheese, Pathmark, and Target, your peepers are in for a treat. The JRG Fashion Cafe provides spectacular views of these fine establishments.
