Cops on Horseback in CH?

Probably a show of force relating to the Labor Day weekend shootings. I saw a NYPD SUV haul a dual-horse trailer (with horses) in Prospect Park earlier today.

As per conversations with the mounted police (two weeks ago), they are patrolling the eastern end of Community Board 8/77th Precinct to help curtail the burglaries that have spiked in that part of the community. This was confirmed by Deputy Inspector Capocci at the September 77th Precinct Community Meeting, this past Monday, Sept. 12.
If you see something you don't understand, you can ask the police what they are doing. After all, they work for you.
That is how I found out. -
I think its a particular time of year thing. I live a couple blocks away from the park and every fall the mounted police show up for a week or two. I always assumed they were patroling from the Propect Park mounted unit and came over here as a way to justify the costs (extra eyes on the street and all that). By the time the weather turns really cold, they'll be gone again.

Prospect Park has a mounted unit?

Over on the northeast side of the park near the tennis bubble.

Upon speaking with City of NY Park & Recreation staff at their main office, they verified certain facts:
1. There are mounted patrols of Parks staff, but that Prospect Park does not have a mounted unit
2. They have not been patrolling outside of Prospect Park; that would be the domain of the NYPD
3. The stables located just off of Coney Island Ave. are Kensington stables, a private stable
4. That the Brooklyn based NYPD stable is in the Coney Island area
5. While some siteings of horses in the streets have been noted previously at this time of year, that is coincidental. As stated previously, the mounted patrols are part of the impact zone placement to counteract street crime and burglaries.

Since the NYPD stable is in Coney Island, I imagine that they use those horse trailers to get here.
...It would be a long walk from Coney Island to CH. Because cops usually only work an 8 hours shift, the officer would basically have to turn around and head back to CI once he arrived in CH.

I've seen police on almost every imaginable mode of transportation in the park. Mopeds, atv's, segway's, jetpacks, and of course horseback.
-
I thought the NYPD's stables were solely on Varick Street, one or two blocks south of Canal. I knew of the private stable on Kensington. I believe they almost went bankrupt or were about to be outlawed by NYC, or some such nonsense a few years ago. I also know of the stables and training "ranch on South Conduit by Linden Blvd in East NY/Brownsville. And of course Jamaica Bay.

I want to hear more about the jetpacks Rezist has seen. I would imagine those would startle the horses.
