  • That chicken looks like he is unemployed.

I bet you he is unemployed because of the:

boy, girl, white, jew, hispanic, black, republican, democrat, liberal, gay, hipster, asian, biker, woman, man, college student, poor, AND/OR rich

    people.

  • i give the unemployed chicken a job, cook yourself and

  • We should not give that man anymore chicken.

It is wrong to enable his bad habits. We should give him a bra instead.

  • I'm not sure if some of the callous comments here are meant to be funny or not. (With such wit it's hard to tell)

I'm not sure why one would find the slaughter or abandonment of a helpless creature as amusing conversation - sorry if I'm a downer.

Maybe it's just b/c its a farm animal and so many of them are brutally slaughtered daily for such delicacies of modern life as dino nuggets (now with 100% real meat: but I hope people would be more compassionate as this little life is wholly dependent on human kindness.

Contact Farm Sanctuary in NY for help at 607-583-2225 ext. 221 or I have a friend in Brooklyn who may be able to help you if you are serious about giving this little guy a chance at a real life free from slaughter, neglect or abuse. If you want her info send me a PM.

  • Alana-

Once a poster has received all of the advice needed, threads often become strange.

In this case, the poster received info about:

    a local slaughter house

a house in red hook where he could raise it

    city chicken farmers

    a rescue organization

someone interested in raising the chicken

a field to leave it in

someone interested in building a coop

BEFORE some regulars decided that the OP was unlikely to receive additional useful advice.

...we try our best to stay on topic. In this case, the topic was chicken.

The OP has received our advice (and yours), and has hopefully benefited from the experience.

  • AW-

Look at the size of the feet on that chicken! It looks like it will be big!

  • Benefit I have Whynot... I contacted one of the backyard chicken folks in BK and they're working with me to help find it a home. This little guy isn't big enough to eat yet. It needs a lot more meat on him/her. It's not even the size of a Rotisserie chicken yet.

PS - Alana, stop making me hungry!

  • shacked26-

Is it possible that this chicken could have come into your care due to aliens?

I am glad it is going to find a good home.

...I am also glad I am going home after a long week, and will likely eat some chicken tonight as I think of this thread.

  • whynot i hate chicken feet. same reason poor people here ate pigs feet and other parts where it was discarded back in the day by the masters, back in china the poor ate the same things that was discarded by the rich landlords etc... by after a few thousand years they forgotten those reasons. now almost everyone eats chicken feet. and i still refuse!!! to do so. just nasty!!

with giant feet he has, i'm sure he'll get a premium for those feet. they'll pay more for the size.

  • When the cart women at Dim Sum try to give me chicken feet, I never let them.

I am a firm believer that any stamps on my card from eating chicken should be from eating the good parts.

    mmmm, brunch for $9.

  • Go with your gut

  • Yay! Dim Sum tomorrow! I won't have chicken feet, but other people might. I'm getting more used to the sight thankfully.

  • I am happy to report the chicken was adopted by a nice family who raise chickens. Winner winner chicken dinner.

  • The Tyson Family, or the Purdue Family?

  • The Tyson Family, or the Purdue Family?

  • Sanders Family.

Damn them for not taking better care of their chicken.

Yeah, those people are never good at taking care of pets :-P

  • I love that all of life can be a good excuse to reference lost :-)

  • You should have had a GPS tag inserted in it before giving it away.

We could have had monthly updates...

Promise us you will this next time, ok?

  • This chicken seriously does not want to stay put. She has escaped from the people who adopted her! http://ditmasparkblog.com/animals/lost-chicken

  • Next time I will GIVE you the $ for the GPS tag.

  • Whynot I will take you up on that offer. My wife is way bummed that after all this effort the chicken has escaped again. This is the most punk rock chicken I've ever encountered. Just try and put her in a cage, she's all fuck that n' shit.

  • Next time, you should also em blaze the bottom of your chicken photo with your name.

That way, you get some credit when it floats around the net
