Where can I find a great cobbler to tailor my boots? — Brooklynian

Where can I find a great cobbler to tailor my boots?

Hello all

I bought a lovely pair of leather riding boots that I would love to get taken in to fit my calves-I totally swim in them otherwise. I once remembered an AMNewYork story about a cobbler "to the fashionistas" who tailored boots somewhere in Midtown (in a metrostation I think) but I cant find the story anymore.

Does anyone have a recommendation of an amazing cobbler who can tailor boots well? I am willing to travel within Manhattan or Brooklyn to get these boots tailored to my specifications. Any and all recommendations are welcomed. Thanks

  • This place would be good for it--

They're located in midtown although I forget what floor they are on. They did a fantastic job on my shoes for my wedding and if I ever needed to modify shoes more than a basic reheel, I would go to them.

  • I suspect you are thinking of the shoe-people at 53rd street and 5th, in manhattan, in the subway station. I think it is the E and V subway station. There is a bodega, Subway and jewelry place there. They do amazing work with shoes (and I had them take in boots once.)

  • Met the proprietor of this Bk establishment at a horse show and have never seen finer work (cobbling)? Not cheap.

  • Dead link?

  • the derdau link uses one of those animated technologies (flash?), so it may take a while to load.

Or, your browser may agree with it due to configuration issues.

It works for me when I run Firefox or Safari.

  • Another good place is Pavlos @ Lex & 88.
