Union Market, no thanks! — Brooklynian

Union Market, no thanks!

The last time I almost bought something at Union Market (7th/12th), it was a bag of Bob's Red Mill Oatmeal. When I picked it up, oats spilled out a nice mouse-sized eatin' hole and fell onto the floor. I looked at the mess slowly piling up and saw a serious volume of mouse droppings under the shelves. They do not clean that place up properly.

Needless to say I pointed all this out to the employees. Have been back a few times but every time I look at the floor those little black poops are everywhere and I just can't stomach it.

  • That place is way overpriced anyway why would anyone go there.

  • Ack! Gross! Granted I have only been there a couple times in the last few months, I prize their roast chickens, produce, pate, specialty items like anchovy paste and the fact that they take credit cards. I will def be looking more carefully next time I go. Short of stopping at whole foods every day after work, this has been a go to place for good, affordable produce and fancy stuffs.

  • Photos or it didn't happen.

  • No way. I went in tonight and looked under a ton of boxes and shelves and saw nothing. Yes, they raped me for a small container of berries and a zucchini, but yum the chicken is sooo good.

  • Yeah, I gave both Union Markets a thorough going-over and I didn't see anything amiss. Went in to take some pictures and all I came away with were some figs.

  • Speaking of Union Market, as I was walking by their south slope store this morning, somehow the following meeting got programmed into my blackberry calendar.

I'm not sure how I enabled this; perhaps it was due to the new facebook privacy setting changes? I don't "like" them on facebook.

Anyhow, I don't need a programmed reminder to shop at Union Market since they are on my corner. Wayyyy too invasive to put reminders in my phone telling me to shop there.

  • @Cabaki Wait, so you were walking by and that magically appeared into your calendar? That's some freaky deaky RFID shit.

  • Yep - I'm not making this up. It took a few discussions with my coworkers today to realize what happened - at first I thought I was going crazy!!
