McDonald's to replace KFC on 4th Ave
This just sucks. That KFC was really gross (I'd rather eat the chicken I found wandering the streets) but now you're gonna replace it with McDonald's?

I will bet anyone, any amount, that this post is inaccurate.

I don't know that they'll become a McDeez, lots can change in the time it will take to sandblast off those caked on 11 herbs and spices.

-
Didn't go to the KFC, unlikely to go to it as McDonalds, so I don't really give a rat's.
-
lol ate at that kfc many many times. only reason i ate there was no other chicken joints
close by. anyway yes the service and place was the most horrible in all kfc's I ever ate at and I ate at many many of them in nyc and all over as a driver
.I was hopping they were replace all the staff and managers and get a new kfc

Slow news day.
Has anyone had the new super juicy Wendy's burger yet?
-
DR, I'll take your bet, for $5, if (and only if) you first provide your real name and address.
It would be worth losing $5 just to know who you are.

Booklaw... why?
Also, perhaps that isn't such a great idea... there are a lot of wackos out there

Because your comments on this board tend to be different than those of most posters, and, at some point, you indicated that you work in publishing (as I have my entire career), and the tenor of your comments seems at odds with your profession. I cannot help but be curious.

booklaw come on people play

Returning to KFC
brownstoner wrote: A 4th Avenue resident wrote in to let us know that the former KFC on 4th Avenue and Warren has become an abandoned eyesore over the past few months:
The site has become a dilapidated “work area” with a now broken fence and crack den-like features. Even by New York standards, it is pretty terrible and definitely an eyesore. There was one pile of trash that grew on the sidewalk in front of the site for months that included meat, diapers, and an assortment of liquor bottles. They have talked about cleaning up 4th Avenue but this is the most obvious example of neglect that seems to permeate the trash strewn corridor (at least between Atlantic Avenue and Union). Residents have to walk by this (literal) garbage everyday and making sure not to step in the aforementioned items strewn about the sidewalk is an unpleasant daily ritual.
City records show that the DOB has had a stop work order on the site since mid-October because of a busted construction fence (click through to see a photo of it) and it looks like the owner owes $4,000 in fines. There were reports that the building was going to be turned into a McDonald’s, which seems borne out by permits issued in the fall to McDonald’s Corp., but maybe those plans have been abandoned?

Yo Quiero Taco Bell!!!!

This is not the only one, there's a KFC on Atlantic Ave. near Wyona in East New York that closed about three months back converting to a Mickey D's and one on South Conduit Blvd in Rosedale that's doing it also. I wonder if they're all owned by the same corporation. I guess Yum Brands aren't so yum after all.

I have a hard time believing $4000 is going to stop a franchisee from expanding. I wish it were that easy. Since the construction's started I've called 311/police regarding the location multiple times; from the pile of garbage, to the obvious trespassing (drug deals?). Whoever is building/renting/owning obviously isn't paying any attention. One day after a freeze I walked by to see a river of water flowing from under the fence. Obviously a burst pipe, FDNY promptly responded to shut off the water. whynot, are you sure it's only $4000? Not only is there an MCD a few blocks down 4th, there is also one in Atlantic Terminal....or so I've heard.

whynot, are you sure it's only $4000?
I merely quoted Brownstoner. I have no direct knowledge.
-
No worries, I was hoping you left a '0' off, I wish it were $40,000.
-
all the garbage etc.. can only blame locals for that problem. people just love to throw garbage onto any reno sites.
I had this problem with many of my own renos. garbage appears over night and I have to pay to get rid of it. and sometimes when i get there be a sanitation ticket. bastards I hate people who do this.
