Another sexual assult last night 9/21
From the 72nd Pct. via Community Board 7:I am sending you this email to inform you of an incident that occurred last night in the confines of the 72nd Precinct.
On Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at approx 9:15 pm at Prospect Ave between 4th Ave and 5th Ave, a female was approached by a male Hispanic that forcibly grabbed her breasts and ran. The female had just exited the Prospect Ave train station "R" line and was walking eastbound on Prospect Ave when she was approached by a male Hispanic, approximately 5'7", thin build wearing dark shirt, baggy dark blue jeans and a baseball hat. After the male forcible touched the female he fled westbound on Prospect Ave toward 4th Ave. The female did not sustain any injuries.
Investigation is continuing.
No need to convey my anger and dismay that this is still happening. Let's all stand together to find out what next steps the Pct., SVU and our electeds are taking to keep out streets safe. CB7's Vice Chair made comment at Tuesday night's meeting asking the Pct. "at what point do these crimes have the next 'escalation' in resources within the 72nd Pct?"
I'd think that time has come.

So, we have two (possibly 3) men who have been sexually assaulting women on the street in a pretty confined neighborhood over the last month or so.
The police, the media, and the public all know about the crimes.
Anyone have a guess as to when the jerk(s) will be careless enough to get caught?
This case reminds me of the short guy who was sexually assaulting women on the LES a while ago, and I think he was caught after about a month or so.
I'll go first: I think they will have one or more suspects in custody by 10/15/2012

could it be the same hispanic dude from all the assaults?
-
I believe the current theory is that two guys (each acting alone) repeatedly assault women, and the police aren't sure whether the assault last night was committed by one of the two repeat offenders.
Predictions?
-
As usual Whynot, thank you for offering up such a useless response to all the women who live in that neighborhood and have to walk home every night.
-
The attacks have been going on for much longer than a month. The first attack was in March.

Do the police think it is the same assailants since March?
Also, I have learned that the short guy who was caught assaulting women was on the UES, not the LES.
Hopefully the police can arrest these guys before they offend again.

Last night I saw 72 guys standing on every corner in the teens on 4th and 5th that I walked on. Tonight I came from 7th and 9th and saw them in card all up and down 7th and 6th in the teens with lights on. Both nights were past incident timing. They can't be everywhere but this is the most active I have seen the 72.

I imagine there are on-duty, undercover women officers who are walking the areas as well.
They are thinking to themselves,
"C'mon prick, I know you are around here somewhere. Come grab ME so my co-workers and I can knock you the ground, shove a gun and a badge in your face, arrest you, and then go back to working inside."

Police release photo of jacket that was worn by one of the attackers

I hope this guy is dumb enough to wear this jacket, so the police will catch him.
...I'd be ok with a citizen catching him too.

winnerloser!Oct 18, 2011: Police Make Second Arrest In String Of Brooklyn Sex Assaults
NY1 wrote: Flecha's pants zipper was down and he had a pornographic video playing on his cellphone. He was walking slowly down the street along a line of cars, and officers thought he may be trying to break into one of them.
He was later picked out of a lineup at the Brooklyn Special Victims Unit by an alleged victim who said she was groped outside the Ninth Street subway station in Park Slope back on May 7.

The first suspect, Adolfo Martinez, 26, of Sunset Park, was arrested last week and charged with forcible touching and sexual abuse stemming from an episode on Oct. 10. Mr. Martinez has admitted to similar acts but said he could not recall where they occurred, the police said.

Update: Flecha may be a loser, but not one of the particular losers we are looking for.
NYPost wrote: Joshua Flecha, 32, of Queens was cleared after the victim of a May 7 attack changed her story to say she wasn’t sure the hapless suspect she’d picked out of a lineup was her assailant - and told cops she would no longer cooperate in the probe.
