Hooray for Fleisher's!

I second that. I got a rockin Moroccan sausage, Chorizo sausage and a pork chop. All fantastic! I sampled their smoked ham cold cuts while at the shop and they were amazing. Jessica helped me and she was super nice and the shop looks great. Super pumped on it opening.

Glad to hear from people that have actually eaten meat and other goods from them. I am looking forward to checking this place out

Yay for Josh! Friend of mine- went to high school with him.

Totally looking forward to checking out the new store! I wish there were more butchers like Fleisher's. The factory farmed meat needs to stop.

Jeez, M&S and predecessors have been in PS for decades. I guess they're too old-school and not overpriced/twee/doochey enough for the masters of their own universe.

Where's M&S?

Tried a couple of Fleisher's sausages and the grind is really fine. For Italian sausages, M&S all the way. For everything else, Fleisher's.

Where's M&S?It's the A&S Pork Store, when they moved further down the block on 5th they changed their name to M&S Prime Meats. I prefer the original name :pig:

I've had the steaks from M&S and they're good but not great. I went back to Fleishers this weekend and bought two bone in ribeyes. I gotta say, they were out of this world. The flavor and texture of the meat was outstanding. Great marbling and just a wonderful earthy taste to it. It was not cheap but its also not something I think I'm going to be buying from them every week. Its a nice treat and I'm very happy to have them in the neighborhood. I don't know why you'd call people who would patronize Fleishers "doochey" but that seems to be a little over the top. Nothing wrong with enjoying really high quality meats. I'm sure there are plenty of people that will continue to go to M&S. But you get what you pay for and when I want to treat my self to a great steak I'll go back to Fleishers.

One time I went to M&S on a Thursday around noon because I needed a brisket for the weekend, but they didn't have one. I asked when they'd be getting some in, and they said the delivery would come in Friday. I asked what time, so I could be sure to get one, and they said they didn't know, but that I should come in around the same time.
So I did! I came back around noon the next day and asked for a brisket, and they said they were sold out. I asked if it was because they hadn't taken delivery yet, and they said nope! They took delivery and sold out "a whole case" of brisket that very morning. Then they looked at me like I was an idiot and shrugged and said to go to Carroll Gardens or whatever. So I ran across town to United and got a brisket, no problem.
I guess United must be too "doochey" also, since they don't do business the same way as "old school" M&S. Also everything old and cheap is always better, all the time. Anyway I hope Fleisher's learns the right way to be a butcher quick from M&S so no one on the internet will call them "doochey" and "twee".

My choice is going back to Fleisher's. Again and again. Got some of their chicken two days ago. Cooked it simple, in a skillet. Delicious.
It is the first time I am feeling happy about feeding my children meat. I have bought organic in the past but nothing compares to Fleisher's. It is the real deal.

Having just purchased & pan fried a Fleischer's ribeye, I must say that the texture and taste isn't that impressive. It tastes like the rest of the butchers in PS & CG.

Guess what?
I tried Fleischer's.
I tried M&S.
Guess who won?
Fleischer's! I not only ate their steak, but I ate my words as well.
I looked at it as someone who is getting tired of their intended market [local doosches from lands other than Brooklyn, but the truth is I had to give it a real shot.
The taste - much better than the normal steak.
Service - superb.
I'll be back - but just to be sure, I'll be back at M&S, too. Carnivores need more than one place to graze. -
Fleishers didn't win - we all won. The place rocks and its a great addition to the neighborhood. Try the rockin Moroccan sausage.

Do they carry prime cuts? That's one thing I'd like to find in Park Slope. I currently trek o Fairway for prime cuts of steak, which are pretty much always better than the choice cuts that places around here sell, and it's cheaper there.

I had the same experience with Fleisher's.
The lamb chops we grilled up from Fleisher's were a kind of revelation. It was like: Oh! That's what lamb chops are actually supposed to taste like. We had no idea.
We had a similar experience with their sausages. They were light, juicy, flavorful and far more delicious than we expected any sausage could ever be. It's like they're putting crack cocaine in there or something.
Have you tried the sliced roast beef? Once you eat the sliced roast beef they're selling at Fleisher's it's actually hard to eat any other roast beef ever again.
And, yes, the service is great. It's a real, old-timey butcher shop. They're busy but they'll take the time to give you cooking instructions or cut something up just how you want it. They really love what they do and that comes across in everything about Fleisher's.
