Here are some pretty amazing new pix. Welcome to Manhattan--only twice as crowded!

wow, that's a lot of buildings --- didn't realize it'd be so many!

I had no idea the AY debate was over Manhattanization vs. nuclear destruction! Thanks for the clarification.

Brooklyn will turn into Mars a la Total Recall?

Wait, after reading Ratner/ESDC, I thought this is what Prospect Heights looks like right now. Don't forget, the ESDC wants to do Ratner's bidding because our neighborhood is blighted.
  • Will all the houses be white and vaguely ominous? Cause that would be really spooky.

Interesting, btw, that one of the views is from the Carlton housing projects, while failing to include how tall those bldgs themselves are.

What do you mean Mars? That's a genuine photo of Sydney Harbour taken at the height of summer by my local representative, the Honourable Member for Kingsford Smith (NSW).

No, extremely unfair advantage. Great album by the way.
  • eatin' good in the neighborhood! image :?
  • Goodbye, views from Newswalk.

You are correct escap. It is interesting. Its not from the "Carlton Housing Projects" its from NYCHA's Atlantic Terminal Public Housing. That building is 28 stories. One 28 stroy building. Ratner has 17 buildings planned (which includes the arena). 13 of those buildings will be taller than that 28 story Atlantic Terminal Public Housing building. 5 will be over 40 stories, one will be over 50 stories and one will be over 60 stories.

So you are writing. It's interesting.
  • whoops, that should be "so you are right. It is intersting."

Look to the upper-right corner of each of your posts.

You got me, careless post on my part, though it doesn't in anyway change the point of my post. As for tall bldgs, this is obviously a fundamental point of contention. For me, personally, the height and scale of the project are a key part of its appeal, so your info relating to the bldgs' sizes does not strike me as an opposition argument. If this were a project about building 17 five story buildings, I'd be pretty ho-hum about it, to say the least.
  • The "views from Newswalk" is a fake.

    Any support for your statement?
  • aren't all the "views" technically "fake" since the buildings haven't been built? yeesh.
  • UPDATE: The public comment perios has been extended to 9/29.

I guess that depends on whether you distinguish between an original artist's rendition and a genuine reproduction.
