Local pharmacies? — Brooklynian

Local pharmacies?

sasparilla
edited November -1 in Park Slope

Just moved to the area and am looking for my go-to pharmacy for prescriptions. I'd really like to keep it local/mom-and-pop owned, too. Any recommends, preferrably South Slope/7th Ave?

Thanks!

  • I go to Neergaard on 7th ave, but the one on 5th ave/9th st is probably closer to you. I have never had a problem with them and they are always helpful and polite.

  • I have been using Ansonia since it opened 25+ years ago.

They are on 7th Ave between 10 and 11th Street. 718-965-0565. Dennis and John that own it grew up in the area, most of their employees are local residents.

  • Health Aid on 7th Ave near 7th St. They will come to your house to pick-up the script and deliver. The pharmacist is great and I've never had the problems I had at the chain places. Sometimes the girls working the counter can be a bit flighty but this place is so much better than the other places we've tried in NYC.

  • Health Aid is the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Palma Chemists on Garfield & 7th Ave. They've been in the Slope since before the Slope was the Slope. Sometimes it takes an extra day to fill a script. However, considering they double check your script/s for possible conflicts, will call your doctor to get refills, and will deliver-it's all good by me. Plus, they're very nice people who don't throw you bullshit excuses or conversations.

  • I second (or third) both Health Aid and Palma. Both are excellent.

  • I imagine most of these small stores suggested are all better than dealing with CVS, Rite Aid, or Duane Reade.

  • The difference is like night and day!

  • Slope Drugs.. 5th ave between7th and 8th Street...terrific!

Only down side is they are closed on Sunday and open early 6 days a week but do close by 8pm.

  • neergard on 5th is nice b.c it's always open. i also found that the pharmacist next door at riteaid has been surprisingly nice/helpful.

  • For parents of very young children, Neergard 5th Avenue's 24/7 hours are a godsend, since young kids inevitably get sick and run high fevers in the middle of the night and on Sundays (at least mine did!).

  • Thank you all! Nice to know there are so any options to choose from. I went with Health Aid for the sake of convenience and they're great!
