Adopt a kitty?
We are moving and cannot take our two cats with us, so we are looking for a new home for them. They are a boy and a girl, both tabbies, and they are the loveliest little pets. They're both about 3. They like cuddling, sitting on humans' laps while they read, chasing squirrels, playing soccer with bottle tops, sleeping, eating, and cuddling some more. We got them when we were kittens so they've always been very close to humans. They like children too. They've just had their annual exams with the vet, and annual shots, and are both very healthy.
They can live together or apart. If you think you could give one (or both) of them a home, please let me know (Natalie Edwards, 22nd street, [email protected]). Or, if you think you might know somebody who might be able to, please pass this message on.
Thanks!

If you adopted your cats from a shelter or cat rescue, you may be bound by your adoption agreement to return them to the shelter/rescue - in any event they will be a good resource. Good luck finding a home.

you have to give away your cats because you're moving? seems like a pretty lame excuse . . .

The people on this board are complete [removed]... see above for specifics.
Catlover - good luck finding a home.

I don't know, I sort of agree with MW11215. When you adopt cats, you pretty much make a commitment to their lifetime. (With occasional exceptional circumstances, obviously.) If you are moving, and you adopted to cats as kittens, you are kind of obliged to find a place where you will be able to bring them as well. Not just ditch them and separate them when they are 3 years old...
I know there's a chance there are circumstances that are beyond this, in which case, I apologize. But if you are just moving somewhere that you want to go but can't take your cats? That's sad.

Quigley, I agree so hard.

I second. You made a commitment to these living, feeling creatures. It is your responsibility. Separating them from each other and also from the only family they've ever known is cruel. That's just my 2 cents. I agree with Quigley too, that there are occasional exceptional circumstances, and if that is the case I apologize and hope the kitties are placed in a caring forever home that with cherish them.

Agree with all the above. I hate when I see posts like these, "we can't take them with us". Why not??? If you adopt an animal you have made a commitment to them for life barring extreme unforeseen circumstances.
This post just sounds like you've found another apartment and either can't be bothered with the cats anymore or they don't allow cats so you are just getting rid of them like old socks, disgusting.
I hope that they do not get separated and end up with people who will really love and take care of them!

Folks, you may all be right that the OP is being hopelessly irresponsible with respect to her pets...
Or she may work for the State Department or some multinational corporation which has just transferred her to Botswana, or some other country which prohibits the importation of pets, or which requires a six -month quarantine before importation (for the record, I chose Botswana at random... I have no idea what its pet importation policy might be).
Or perhaps she is a scientist and has just been posted to McMurdo Station in Antarctica.
So let's not be too quick to pile on the OP, until we have more facts.

Let's imagine her to be a banker. Then we can blame all of the world's macro problems on her, as well as the fact that she is trying to find her cats a new home.
Howdy, Stranger!
