Is any one on Prospect Place btw. Carlton & Vanderbilt finding their water is brown (both hot and cold and toilet)?

  • Brown water here, too. Bergen and Flatbush.

  • My guess is it has to do with pipe work in the area. Possibly the Arena if they're digging up old water mains. Or some place else.

  • Same as OP

  • As has been mentioned, this isn't unusual when work is being done. Run your water for a bit, and it may clear up, depending on how much is in the system and where.

Oh, FYI - toilet and the cold tap are the same thing, they just don't run through your boiler.

  • I think Idlewild is correct. For the past month or so we have had notices from DEP about overnight water shut offs (I am on Underhill). Finally I called DEP to ask why so many shut offs since I didn't see any work being done on Underhill. They told me that new pipes were being laid for the stadium.

  • We are also on Prospect near Vandy and I haven't noticed this today.

But thanks Ratner! Another 'present' from you....

  • As I drove up Atlantic Avenue (North/East bound) I noticed a slew of new water-main waiting to be installed. They were lying on top of the median/divider on Atl between Washington and Classon.

  • Thank you, very interesting about the new piping being installed. We don't see the signs about the water being turned off, etc., in this part of the neighborhood.
