Police action 8/22? — Brooklynian

Police action 8/22?

Does anybody have any information why there were like 200 police cars on Eastern Parkway around Brooklyn and Kingston and everywhere yesterday around 3:00pm?? One Police man said it was just a "drill"...the other said they were taking role call...do they really think we are that dumb?

  • Don't know, but they were speeding through the neighborhood all night lights and sirens ablaze. They caught a kid across the street from me who had just come around the corner from Nostrand. I assumed it was some sort of buy and bust initiative because he was grabbed by uniforms and then plaincloths guys came pulling up a minute later. They hustled him into the car and were gone in two minutes flat.
  • Yes. I think they were making a real show of presence yesterday. They arrested or ticketed the tin man (the guy who sells food from his tin-foil covered shopping cart) and were even giving out parking tickets on Nostrand

    That'll show those kids! ](*,)
  • Speaking of the tin man, has anyone purchased anything from him? One evening I saw him selling huge ears of corn that looked really good, but he's the tin man, so...no corn for me. Can someone vouch for the corn-y goodness?
  • I haven't tasted his delectibles but I felt sad for him. He's just trying to get by. Wish they'd refocus on the drug dealers who radio back and forth on my block and slyly hand off the drugs.

Yours are sly? Ours Nextel each other to alert them that a buyer is coming. I want to ask them if they realize that everyone within 500 ft now knows what's up.

The late-night Nextel chirpping symphony have me wanting to beat whoever owns that patent.
  • Oh that's what they do on my street too.. it just seemed slyer than using a megaphone to announce the deal.
