A FESTIVUS
For The Rest Of Us

There will be Airing of Grievances! "I've got a lot of problems with you people!!"
And Feats of Strength! "Stop crying and fight your father!!"
Not to mention the usual shit talking and trips to Carneviento and Albaz for delicious food to eat at the bar (tip your bartender generously.)
When:December 14
Where: Sharlene's AKA "Mooney's"
Time: Starts at 6pm
Welcome Newcomers, you are encouraged to come. Bring treats to share if you like, but it's not necessary.

If I have any chance of getting back into the mix, it will NOT be a Friday night. (Unless I am useless at work the next day.)
-
will there be deviled eggs?
-
There might be.
I think that Sharlene's is the only local bar that still plays heavy metal music.
-
Satanic food is not only allowed but mandatory. Someone bring Devils food cake too.
-
I will not be bringing any satanic food, but would still like to attend.
Can I ask that those who choose to bring satanic food label it?
Mrs Whynot will avoid items with meat.
-
With the news that Christie's is closing I think it is only appropriate that we support our local patty shop on Festivus.

I can do the 14th but not the 16th...I'd love to finally make it to one of these!
-
Another vote for the 14th!
-
The 14th it is!
DEC 14th, 2011
Bring friends, fiends and family. Pets are allowed but only if they are well behaved.
-
i would love to go probably too busy with my current renovations. I'll make it to the next years one
.just to air my grievances I h8s you all
. except the pretty ones. -
AW, I am glad you do not h8 me.
I am also pleased to report that a suitable pole was located on today's walk, and hereby present it for your viewing pleasure:

In light of the New Normal economy, the 2011 Brooklynian Festivus Pole is smaller, table top version. As in prior years, it is constructed entirely of recycled and repurposed materials.
As per tradition, posters will be given a permanent marker to sign the pole, and the pole will be left at the bar as an unwanted gratuity.
See you then.
-
That is a very festive pole, WN. :rendeer:
-
As you can see from this shot, the pole itself is slightly taller than Dude, and the base of the pole is about the width of the span of his ears.

-
We are a maybe.
-
I'm in!
-
Whynot, I hope Dude is being paid for guarding the pole...
I'm a maybe as well.
-
I'm in.

sad dog.
-
Is there a mass unveiling or anything else I should know as someone who just came to this site relatively recently? It would be nice to meet you all in person though.
-
Is there a mass unveiling
... I'll be good and not make a dirty joke here...
Tate, you can't miss us. We are usually the loudest group, plus the ONLY group with Dude the dog and a silver pole
-
We can't tell you about the hazing before it happens, duh.
-
We can't tell you about the hazing before it happens, duh
Damn, you're clearly smarter than I hoped.

-
Edit to the title, it's the SEVENTH! Annual Festivus!
So Say We All!
-
Dude might not make it to this one... Due to the DOH crack down on dogs in bars.
-
Try getting him certified as a service animal.
-
Can not make, I have flu + no wheels
-
Sharlenes is aware that approximately 15 - 20 people arrive this evening.
Drink specials end at 7:00.
-
Sorry, home alone with sleeping children (wife out having fun) and so couldn't make it.
[shameless self-promotion]
Though I must protest. Festivus should've been celebrated at either of the two final performances of the 10-year anniversary of spurn, tomorrow, Dec. 15th or next Thursday the 22nd!

speaking of self promotion, the chef at Amorina Pizza (on Vanderbilt Avenue) set us up with some yummy complimentary pizzas!

P.S. For those who like statistics: Mrs. Whynot counted 26 people!
A better turnout than expected....
Howdy, Stranger!
