Brower Park Tree Lighting — Brooklynian

Brower Park Tree Lighting

Noticed a couple of days ago that the sign was up for the Holiday Tree Lighting at Brower Park, Dec. 7th at 6pm at the corner of Kingston and Prospect. It says there will be caroling and refreshments courtesy of Starbucks. Patch also has it listed in its Holiday Guide: http://prospectheights.patch.com/events/crown-heights-holiday-tree-lighting

  • Interesting.

Has that area gotten better since circa 2006? (last time I was near brower)

  • They got a skate park now but I still think there's some trouble over there...

  • Can't say. I was in East Flatbush then. But I can say it's much different than when I was growing up in Crown Heights. Crime's down. Diversity's up. More amenities in the last few years -- a sit-down restaurant, a sandwich shop. And this is the second year for the tree lighting.

  • It was a very wet tree lighting, but there was hot chocolate and a handful of people. And Friends of Brower Park went over some of this year's highights, like Shakespeare in the Park, and some of what they hope to do next year, like tai chi.
