Remember the guy who used to sell Heywood-Wakefield stuff on 7 Ave?

When I first moved to PS in 1999, there was a store that sold Heywood-Wakefield furniture--mainly desks and tables, but also other 50s goodies. He had a small, narrow space somewhere in the teens and 7 Ave., and eventually closed down the shop because the rent was too high. I think that the store had "Modern" in its name. Does anyone else remember this place? I'd love to find the guy who owned the place--he said he was moving business online.

  • I believe he was in the space where "Brook-Vin" is now. He was definitely on 7th between 11th and 12th Streets on the west side. Perhaps the owners of Brook-Vin would know who and where he is.

  • i think it was called MOSTLY MODERN. it may have been in the brook vin space but there has been at least one other business in that location in the intervening years: a weird coffee shop with a yellow striped awning that was brook vin's immediate predecessor.

  • Oh, yes! That was it! Thank you, maggiepc!

    Thanks too to PSPhoenix!
