SAFE IN THIS PLACE: a community dialogue
Greetings Everyone & Happy 2012,
We want you to know about a wonderful project that Crow Hill Community Association is sponsoring: Safe In This Place: A community dialogue & theater project.
Last year, after Labor Day's tragic shooting, many in the Crow Hill Community expressed their concerns about safety, gun violence and the police presence in our community.
There was a surge of energy towards addressing these issues and the first concrete response has been the Safe In This Place project.
Through a series of 10 workshops (free to all), members of our community will gather to discuss what it means to be safe in our neighborhood.
These workshops will culminate in a presentation/performance for the community at large.
We see this as a constructive, proactive response to the fracturing the community was feeling at the time, and we urge everyone who feels strongly about exploring this subject to participate.
The first meeting is Thursday, January 12th, so we are looking for people to commit now.
You don't need to have any theater experience to get involved.
Just an interest in a little bit more active way to explore issues.
For more info and to sign up, email the organizers at: [email protected].
Or call Julia Taylor at 708-408-2004.
We hope you feel as we do, that this will be a direct, worthwhile and positive way to address a situation that often seems to be the proverbial elephant in the room.
