  • we should do a kickstarter for christie's!

  • Nah, Kickstarter is for new things.

    He made it 45 years.

Atari taught me that even great things must be allowed to fade away.

  • FALSE. I bought an iCade and now I can play Tempest and Missile Command on my iPad.

  • Do you think they will make a similar app for Christies?

  • No. But I think Makerbot 3D printers will eventually move beyond plastic polymer printing. And in your own home, you will be able to print out a Jamaican patty.

  • Sounds excellent.

Can I purport that this technology has an increased chance of being developed if Christie's goes out of business?

And, therefore give credit to Ratner and the Nets for creating the conditions that increased rents along Flatbush Avenue?

  • Yes. Go register pattyprinter.com and profit from this.

  • I'll do that.

...but I would still rather be Ratner, or the landlord who is hiking the rent on Christie's.

Their business plans seem more solid than mine.

  • Excellent.

...I've never been, and it's on my list of places to go.

  • WNot, does sharlene's still allow dogs? Just saying, I'd be down for a jamacian pattie happy hour. ...

  • The DOH has gotten so strict lately, that I no longer bring the mutt to places that used to be dog friendly.

I'd feel really bad if some bar got a huge fine as a result of them letting me have a beer with my dog.

  • Are dogs allowed at bars with an outdoor space? I'm not familiar with the rules (not that I have a pooch, but if I did).

  • In another thread, it was determined that they are not allowed.

  • I am told they are allowed in the outdoor space if the dog does not have traverse the indoor space to get to the outdoor space.

...for example, The Gate in Park Slope.

However, some bars with qualifying outdoor space still prohibit dogs because of the potential hassle they create. ...for example, Franklin Park in Crown Heights.

  • Bummer. Franklin Park was the one on my mind.

Christie's Jamaican Patties Sticking Around After All

glad they could work it out. given the number of empty storefronts on flatbush (at least two on that block) i never bought the idea that a landlady would want to kick out a tenant who was paying some rent based on the speculation that an arena blocks away that hadn't opened yet was going to be her salvation. (much less that the arena somehow drove out the patty shop.) it's a recession dude. guy fell behind on his rent. landlady threatened to evict. they worked it out. good news for those of us who prefer patties to another cellphone store.

  • mod: wonder if we want to merge this with this. or lock one?

  • I'm doing a series of interviews of local business owners as a way to promote North Flatbush entrepreneurs. Here's Christie's Patties:
