Keeping an ear out for news on 4 5 2 3 train investigations today (2/7/2012) and will let you know.

OK. It looks like service on 2, 3, 4, 5 trains were delayed due to an investigation at President Street in Crown Heights. MTA said service was temporarily suspended. There were no trains running into Brooklyn on those 4 lines, which majorly disrupted service for an hour or more. MTA's website said there was no 2 train at all in either directions from Flatbush to Atlantic, and no 3 trainfrom New Lots to Atlantic Avenue.
Looks like normal service since about 20 minutes ago, though there could be some residual delays, according to DNAInfo: http://www.dnainfo.com/20120207/prospect-heights-bed-stuy-crown-heights/service-on-2-3-4-5-trains-delayed-due-president-street-investigation
Still awaiting police information on what exactly the incident was.

got me intrigued

If I had to guess, "subway investigation" probably means somebody got hit by a train.

Was stuck on the 5 train for almost an hour and half between Atlantic and Franklin! MTA turned off the power completely and the car turned into a darkened sauna. They also stopped updating us after about 15 minutes - we had no idea what was going on. When the train started moving, it became apparent that we were EXTREMELY close to the Franklin Avenue Station. It was totally horrible.

My roommate was on the last train to president street, which was apparently where the incident originated. He said that cops were swarming and they had more fire power than usual. He exited the station and said it was surrounded. The only thing they would say is that they were chasing someone down the tracks.

The suspects are believed to have run through the tunnel from the President station to the Kingston station.
chinfo wrote: Crown Heights [CHI] — A mugging on the subway sparked a massive police response, including k9 and heavily armored emergency service units, who spread out near subway entrances down Eastern Parkway with a strong presence in front of 770.
The robbery occurred on the 2 train at President Street and the suspects, three African-American males, jumped off the train and on to the tracks where they made their getaway.
Police were forced to shut down power to the tracks in fear for the suspects' safety, as well as that of the officers that went in after them with the assistance of the dogs.
Witnesses said that they saw the suspects climb onto the platform at the Kingston Avenue station, where they got out and fled above ground.
The suspects remain at large and the police are investigating.

Haha. The suspects' safety, I'm sure that was a huge concern.
Howdy, Stranger!
