2nd St/7th Ave: Again.
A heavy gust of wind nearly blew off a piece of scaffolding on the dilapidated building on Second St. at the corner of Seventh Ave. Saturday afternoon....
The window pierced the top of the car while a woman was sitting inside, a man said, who has been living next door to the building for 28 years and did not want to give his name. Luckily she was not injured.
...
The building, which address is 187 Seventh Avenue and 501 Second Street, has been subject to rumors and urban legends due to its quirky past and how it has been left to rot and has become dilapidated over the years of neglect.
The Nash family told Patch said that Saturday’s incident was not their fault, but rather the fault of the contractor who the city hired to build the scaffolding, which according to the Nashes was “faulty.”

At this point the only thing that will ever cause any type of change or movement on doing something about that building will be when someone gets killed by a piece of debris flying off of it.

Actually, there is hope:
The bank is foreclosing on the property: http://brooklynian.com/forum/park-slope/the-eyesore-at-7th-ave-and-2nd-st-is-going-into-foreclosure#post-750113

Is a foreclosure really going forward on the property? I just saw a mention of "foreclosure pressure" and a Nash family member saying at a community board meeting that they are appealing "foreclosure actions."
-
The Nash family does have the right to appeal.
The Park Slope family has the right to root for the bank.

I like the building's grunge chic

Weren't these ladies appealing to the community for financial support to make the building artists' lofts or something like that? What I remember reading made it sound like they are not going to make anything about improving the corner or the other horribly run-down house they own nearby easy.
I think almost anything that is in good and useable condition will be an improvement to that corner.

How does one make a donation to the bank's legal fund?
Howdy, Stranger!
