Mutt Show is Here! Does Your Dog do a Bloomberg Impression? Ironic Facial Hair?
The Brooklyn Mutt Show: "The Fun Alternative to Westminster"
At Brooklyn Lyceum, 227 4th Ave. Brooklyn, NY Saturday and Sunday, March 24th and 25th
As Park's Slope's Storied Public Bath readies itself for the third outing of its annual Mutt Show, The Best Beasts in the Borough are primping their paws and buffing their fluff in preparation for the city's *second* most celebrated pooch procession. While Humans can Take Classes in CPR and Pet First Aid, and enter TONS of Raffles for which a very small donation can be made, Canine contestants will compete in a variety of categories including:

Best Beard: Does your Dog look like Lincoln? Galifinakis? Does her chin need a mow? We are looking for the dog that looks most like the audience at a Bon Iver show.
Best Tail: Its not about looks, its personality that's critical. Last year one medalist's tail was invisible!!
Best Ears: Floppy or Pointed, Wiry or Smooth, we are looking for Ears that are lively and move. So long as they're interesting, puppies, we'll take ya, even if one's pointed at me and the other is all "That way to the Bodega!"
Least Useful Pet Trick: One of our entrants this year is performing "underwear eatin'" ....I'm so interested to see what could possibly beat him.
Least Likely to Become a Police Dog: If your portly pug has potential only you can see, let her mettle be tested by a member or the NYPD!! If no one has high hopes for your Wee little Chi, let a real live police officer see what he can be! He will even be bringing Canine officer LT!
Mayor Mike Look a Like!!! Letitia James has the final vito, for the dog that looks (or just embodies the spiriit of) the one and only El Bloombito!!
Looks Most Like Owner: Last Year's gold medalists won for both being Ginger, and an infant in a Beagle suit helped secure the silver winner. Erika and Cubby wore matching wigs in year one, and came back in boas for second year fun! We have lots of Dopplegangers in the doggie parade, but its brooklyn so I expect at least one dude and his dog in matching wayfarer shades...
Sexiest Senior: If your Shepherd has Swagger at the age of thirteen or your decade-plus Dobie mix is the queen of the scene, come down and let them show us all what maturity means! If his butt is still wigglin' or her bark is still loud, come be the dog that would make George Hamilton Proud. I'm excited to see what game these seasoned sorts' are givin, if you want to compete please be over seven!
Cutest Puppy: I know a description is what I should do, but I'd be a little concerned if I had to explain this to you. The only thing I need to say here, is be friggin' adorable, and be under a year!
Agility with Doggie Academy: Even the most awkward dogs can jump hoops and sit still in a box...why? Because Sarah Westcott Rocks!! Your dog can do all sorts of things and its her skill and patience you can thank, she'll be joined by other members of her faculty and canine co pilot Hank. We're running it twice because its always a hit, so let Sarah prove that even your clumsy Cockapoo is the Sheeeeaaaa----uh, stuff.
Zumba for People and Pups! Not for a medal but really fun, Madeline Vera knows how to get it done, A fantastic workout if you have two or four feet, you and your puppy can shake it to salsa inspired beats, it isnt really as odd as it sounds, you follow instructions, your dog just runs around!
Canine Costume Cavalcade: Last year we had A Cowboy, Clown, Two Strippers, Red Riding Hood, Scuba Seamus and the First Day of Spring? ....I'm not sure I can fathom what this year will bring
Star Wars vs Star Trek Fuzzy Fandom Fancy Dress: This one is a guilty pleasure I did largely for me, but you know how nerds get about sci fi supremacy. Wookie or Tribble, Ewok or Spock, Han Shot First! Nobody remebers Tuvok! Come have your canine fight for the honor of your favorite folklore! The winners will get internet circulation galore. Dress your dog as Leia (her shots always hit!) And harken back to a time when "Cardassian" couldn't be mistaken for "reality twit"
In addition to medals (last year for Math, this year, who knows, Maybe Physics?) There are prizes From Les Pets en Voyage, Star Pet Products....and One Love Clinic is Giving a Free Heartworm and exam Visit! You can also get a custom shirt of YOUR DOG courtesy of Roxy's Tee Parlour, and a Sitting with Brooklyn Beast...what? Holy Hell! HOLLER! and thats on TOP of the goody bag and vendor freebies. Brooklyn Mutt 2012 is the place every Puppy Should Be!!
(its 25 bucks to pre-register your pup, and with a nominal donation and/or food or care item for shelter dogs, admission is free)
The brooklyn mutt show is produced in conjunction with Brooklyn Bark.More Information, Doggie Registration and a Full Schedule can be found at http://brooklynmuttshow.com
