Somebody please pay Steve some attention.
T-Lounge on 7th has really good cupcakes. I actually stopped in there last night and bought a couple and a raspeberry thingie to serve for dessert. The furniture smells like a peculiar combination of dirty hippie ass and baby ass, and is uncomfortable and the service is slow as shit.
However, the cupcakes are yum.
I'm good actually, just noting the incestial nature of the board of late. -

oh steve. don't care what they say about you
i still think you're a head turner =P~ -
Think I'd rather hear people spreadin' the love on here than spread the mud slinging. lighten up. actually what would make me even HAPPIER is for any of us to stay on topic and keep it quasi BROOKLYN, mind you PARK SLOPE related. but thats just me.
Tea Lounge. Tea Lounge's coffee isn't as good as Gorilla, yet, I think Tea Lounge is better than Ozzies. Where else can we recommend Stella go for coffee and entertainment in the Slope area? -

Quijibo...You're the only DS'er for me. There is no readily available emoticon that expresses my true feelings.
I'm really not sure what the fuss is those of you that are fussin, I'm just teasing. Too incestial indeed. -

I know not everyone likes Cocoa Bar, but the mommies seem to be avoiding, they get a good 20 and 30 something crowd. -
How has Perch worked out?
I love the design . . . -
Ok, I see nothing wrong with pregnant women. I hope to be one someday, so of course I have nothing against them, however, I do not feel that huge poster sized photos of naked pregnant women (or even just naked women who aren't pregnant) have a place in a coffee bar!
Hello Steve, I don't know who you were referring to, but I am not flirting with Flexigirl, this thread is definately meant to be about tea lounge. This serves as my giving you attention. Hi there.
I have seen that Gorilla place you mentioned, but have never been there. I am not big on coffee. The main reason I go to Tea lounge is for a place to hang out. Their sofas are ratty, though, but comfier than the lyceum. lol.
So, yes, where were we? Right, I need a place very similar to the tea lounge, but with less gross sofas and better music! Actually, I made this thread because I was curious to see if I had seen any of you at the lounge. Hey, it could happen. -

Send her to 7th Avenue Donuts at 3 a.m. That's sure to be amusing as well as a decent cup of Joe.

No thanks! I already stated my preference for the Dunkin Donuts at 4th and 9th (or somewhere around there)
Not that I mind your quick replies, but don't you ever sleep Idlewild? -

Don't you and I both?

'cause we all walk/drive by and think "what a great building!"
and then we go to a show there, and are bummed that all that potential is . . . just potential at this point.
There's been a couple of threads about it. -

is the more recent Lyceum thread that leads to earlier Lyceum thread -
Opinions on the best place to sit, read, and have some decent coffee/tea in a relatively comfortable seat?
-
I can't remember the name right now, but there's a place that opened this Spring on 5th Ave. near Prospect Ave/17th Street. Tiny little place - o strollers, very nice owner, comfy seats, free wi-fi and I think they even have a backyard.
Anybody know what I'm talking about? -

I'm afraid every place that is cushy is overun with toddlers and their minders...so, I hate to say it, but
HOME (for relatively comfortable seating, and so-so coffee. and I mean *my* home, not some new place)
but obviously that's not what you mean, so
+ Gorilla (I like the benches, I like to be outside)
+ Mule on Fourth Ave - not wildly comfortable, but less babies abound
+ Prospect Park, the grass or benches, with Gorilla takeout
(except I've guzzled that coffee by the time I get there)
+ Chocolate Room is hushed, and has coffee and other drinks
+ Ozzie's won't kill you, and the one on Fifth Ave has couches
+ the new patisserie on 9th St at Sixth Ave has good coffee, but cafe seating
+ Castillo de Jagua on Flatbush at Park Pl has good cafe con leche, and they won't bug you if you're sitting in a booth reading and drinking for awhile. Gotta love the diner vibe tho...
And I'm totally wondering about the new place on Union (4/5th Ave) since they are serving coffee, and breakfast/lunch
+ Night and Day (if you can stand the jazz they are playing)
and
+ Beso
both on Fifth Ave near President are open weekdays for brekky and on, and make decent coffee
man, it is sooo time for me to stop dicking around on the computer! ciao! -

YES

I had a great cup of coffee there. Good South Slope option . . . -
Are you talking about Cafe Sutra?
-
Yep. I actually just remembered the name about 5 minutes ago. Thanks

but I was referring to known board harlot Quijibo, at least in this instance. -

Because the last time I called Brooklyn Lyceum seeking information about an upcoming performance, the person who picked up the phone advised me to check the Internet for times and admission fees. Had the person not answered with the "Hello, Brooklyn Lyceum," I would have I thought that I had dialed the wrong number. When I explained I was calling from a cell phone and only needed basic information on the program, the person had a panic attack, put me on hold with out hitting the mute button for several minutes, called some sort of manager over to take the call, who barked into the phone, "what's the problem?" -

This is secondhand info but I've heard one of the management types over there is a bit of a wank. -

Um, can you be a bit more specific, Steve? -

I really can't actually, and like I said it's secondhand information, so it onlky goes so far...Why, you don't sound like you have an axe to grind there. Incidentally, I may be going there tonight for the 1st time. Go figure. -

I don't have an axe to grind there. I've never been there. I just didn't find that second hand info about somebody unspecific being a wank in an unspecific way to really be any clarification. -
Ah, I see. I wasn't trying to clarify, I was trying to add. The fact is BP has an interesting question, the place is enigmatic. The story the guest told is more or less in agreement with the other story I've been told.
