Gunshot question, not to be alarmist — Brooklynian

Gunshot question, not to be alarmist

So I hear out of my back window onto the block bordered by Sterling, St. John's, Washington and Undershill, a very loud pop. No one shoots off just one firecracker. A few minutes later a 2nd, and that's all.

I can't really call 911 and say well, somewhere on this block there may have been something that sounded like a gunshot, can I? Just ignore it? It could have been something else, I really can't say for sure what it was but there aren't a ton of things as loud as that.

This is also my way of asking if anyone else heard anything or was beating an enormous rubber mat against the pavement twice.

  • heard it too, there were two pops, just heard it again from the same location it's 10:34. I call 911 when I'm sure I've heard gunshots but not everyone has heard different types of guns go off so certain other sounds might be mistaken as gunfire. I don't know what this was.

  • I suspect if you call it, in you'll get little more than a cruiser or foot patrol down the block which probably won't see anything or do anything at all.

People shoot off their guns just for fun, it's not always at anyone, and when it is police tend to find out about it when they don't miss.
