Anyone interested in splitting a car to the start at the ungodly hour of 5:45? I need to be at the start by 6:15 for the preffered corral thing, though I may be willing to leave at 6 and chance not getting in. PM me if you are into it with your telly number and I'll be in touch before 9. We have 2 people leaving from 7th and 3rd/4th

    Not particularly interesting. I thought the choice of baby blue for the shirt was awful. Should be a great day though, nice and cool, and maybe a little sprinkle to cool ya off. bedtime for me

    Sorry I didn't see this earlier -- we had two taking a car from Prospect Heights. How did things go for you? I hate early mornings as much as the next guy, but if early mornings = avoiding potentially hot and dangerous conditions, I'm all for them. Yesterday just happened to be cooler than normal for late August. Until the downpour started at mile 10, I thought conditions were nearly perfect -- a bit humid, if anything.

    Thanks Eastern, maybe we'll coordinate for Grete's. It sounds like you're run the late August half before, the weather this year was much better than the last two, even with the humidity. I didn't mind the drenching one bit though.

    I didn't mind the drenching from the ankles up, but my hamstrings are feeling the effects of the heavy, water-soaked shoes for 19 minutes.

    Not sure if I'm doing Grete's. This was my first 1/2 ever and my first run of over 10 miles in something like 6 years. Thinking about racing shorter distances and building base until the Brooklyn Half in March. If I do race a half, it might be the Staten Island one on 10/15. Know anything about that course?

    Shit, congratulations are in order then. Nice job.

    I've never run Staten Island since it is a pita to get to and it never quite meshes with my marathon training. Grete's is my favorite race of the year though, the weather is perfect most of the time, I highly recommend it.

    Have you seen any of the previous references I have made to the Brookly HAsh on the board. You may want to join us sometime.

    Thanks for the tip on Greta's run. If I do another Half this fall, it would be to crack the auto-time for qualifying for the 2008 NY Marathon. Not sure if I'll be ready in 5 weeks or if two laps of the park would be ideal for knocking another 70+ seconds off of my time.

    Do you know anything about the Norway Run that is held the same day? Is it essentially a fun run, or do people race the 1.7mi? If it's the latter, I might consider it.

    Thanks for the Hash invite. I attended one with the NY Sunday afternoon group two autumns ago, but haven't been since. I like the idea of the Monday night r*n, especially as we lose daylight.

    The only time I ever hear people mention the 1.7 is when they talk about getting 2 Q's in 1 day, which is not allowed anymore. I pretty much only do the halves at this point, but I will probably do any races I can find this month.

    I gotta ask, what did you run yesterday at? It sounds like you threw down some major speed.
