NEW YORK PROSTITUTES DEMAND MINIMUM WAGE PAYMENTS AND WORKERS COMP
NEW YORK PROSTITUTES DEMAND LABOR RIGHTS - link
[i]"People don’t understand that just because you are a prostitute doesn’t mean you are a bad person or do not deserve wages. As prostitutes we provide a service to the community and we deserve to be protected and we deserve to be paid. The police should be enforcing our right to work instead of arresting us. I feel it is time we have a union for prostitutes in New York,” said Dejesus.

Well, if they want workers' comp then they're going to have to have their pimps take out the policy. If they're self employed then it's up to them to take out their own policy. Frankly, I don't know if the New York State Insurance Fund, which writes high risk classes of workers' comp in New York State has a classification for this job. By the way, there's no more prostitutes in Times Square anymore. They've been gone for years.

Altagracia Dejesus? That's a pretty ironic name for a whore.
-
Is this related to the effort to prohibit condoms from being used as evidence of prostitution?
Are they demanding these wage enhancements and protections in Prospect Heights, or at the Department of Labor?

Whore and prostitute are synonyms.

Is sex ever free?
-
My mother told me to be cheap but NEVER free. But women usually aren't even cheap or is that inexpensive.
-
I agree with PG's mother: Regardless of whether you are a man or a woman, somehow, you always have to pay for sex.
God is wrong.

This is a hoot. What's next, contract killers filing for disability claims? I wonder if Ms. Dejesus would be willing to pay taxes and union dues. This whole thing reminds me of how some porn actors/actresses try to earn the respect of others by intellectualizing their trade, listing the academic books they're read, or claiming to have graduated from prestigious colleges or scored well on standardized tests.

I find it difficult to trust people who tout such things, regardless of their profession.
As noted above, I live in a world where even God is wrong.
-
I imagine if prostitution was legalized in NYS, minimum wage and Workman's Comp would automatically be enforced upon the companies/entities who hire said prostitutes. Unions soon to follow.
Howdy, Stranger!
