Grand St: Dominican restaurant closes, then reopens upscale — Brooklynian

Grand St: Dominican restaurant closes, then reopens upscale

A construction worker said the owners of the original restaurant there, which closed shop about nine months ago, are coming back. It will serve lunch and offer fancier fare for evenings. As far as we can tell, the previous spot served Spanish-American food. From the looks of construction it will be much more upscale this time around. Did anybody try this place out in its previous incarnation? The grand reopening should be in a few weeks.

I wasn't a regular, but in my memory, this place used to serve a lot of folks from the area auto body shops and the nearby bus company, Monsey.

mmmm. sit down Dominican food.

....takes me back to my time in Washington Heights.

Adapting to neighborhood change, often a good strategy.

  • There was a fire in an upstairs apartment that resulted in water damage to the restaurant and closed it. This looks to be a happy ending for the location (hopefully the previous owner was insured). Something extra-special about entrepreneurs who brave locations off the main commercial strips.

Anyone know how Thirstbaravin is faring down on Classon and Dean?

It has been a while since a bunch of newbie and old timers us got together for a meal. We should set up a date and go!

  • Upscale being a relative term to what it was before.

That said, this place has a lunch special for $6, and most dinner entrees are in the $11 range. It is in the same price and service range as The Spot.

Beer and wine available. A TV that always used to play Soccer and baseball is no longer present in version 2.0. It is configured in a way that it could seat large groups..... Furnished with mismatched chairs.

    Nice spot.
