Is this your cat? — Brooklynian

Is this your cat?

There is a lovely all black cat that has been hanging around my building on Park Place between 6th & 7th for awhile now. He/she is extremely friendly and very well fed. Also, it doesn't seem to be very afraid of dogs. This is a really awesome cat and I would take it except for my two dogs. Is it yours or do you know who it belongs to?

If so, please PM me for details and pictures.

  • A friend of mine lost an all black kitten in the area about a month ago. But this was a kitten, not a full grown cat... what's the size of the cat you've seen?

Sorry, but this is definitely an adult cat. It's quite pudgy actually.

I really hope someone claims it, it's such a great cat and I'm sure the owners really miss it. You should see it "sell" itself to passersby, almost nobody can resist stopping to look at it and pet it.

Thanks for the inquiry and please pass the message along, let's get this one back home ASAP! A neighbor has posted in Craigslist as well.
  • Are you sure it isn't just someone's cat that is allowed to go outside? Not that I want to get into a discussion about whether that is a good idea, but if the cat has been hanging around for a while, and it's pudgy, seems like someone must be taking care of it.

Hi, thanks for responding. We were thinking the exact same thing, but it seems a bit suspicious that it suddenly appeared at our doorstep. Also, I saw it scurrying around in the rain last night. I don't know about you, but I don't know too many cats that like being out in the rain. Granted, we have been feeding it (how could we not, he's SOOO great!), so it is possible that someone has been letting it out. Right now, we just want to find his/her owners. If that doesn't work out, then we'll find a good home.
  • Do you check Petfinder.com and if not check there and also place an ad there. (its free :) )
  • why not buy the cat a little collar? or make one with elastic string (so it's safe) and put some sort of waterprrof note on it, asking if it has a home.

in my brother's neighborhood, there's an outdoor cat with a collar tag that says, "i am not lost"
