could someone have told me every restaurant is on vacation

this week? this is the first year in many we're not on vacation this week; i figured i'd finally enjoy the nabe when everyone else went away. started with a plan to meet the wife and kid at geido for quick decent sushi; failed attempt - vacation (and private party inside to boot.) next try - aliseo; failed again - vacation it seems (tho no sign.) finally opened eyes up wide and saw too many places closed for vacat (tho not the indian place, but who eats there anyway?) forced to order in from the 'slope. argh.
