Brooklyn Back When - Open Thread

Hello All, We made it through just fine.We have had regular Thunder storms which affected us much more then Isaac. Now while thanking God for our deliverence we should pray for the people in New Orleans who have already been through so much! This(Tampa Bay) area was spared any great damage. Just some flooding in areas bordering rivers & streams.

Many of you are going through one of those times in life when you lose friends & neighbors. I have been through so much of it that I can count on my hands the friends and neighbors and people I grew up with that are left. The young ones seem to sting the most but even losing someone you care about in their 90's hurts you inside. Love and be kind to people now while they are still here and YOU are still here.My Mother used to tell us "Bring me flowers now, do not wait for my funeral".

Oh Warren How True...

Bring me flowers now so I can enjoy them...My Mom felt the same way..

How is the weather getting better or worse. Have not watched the news.

Hey Anthony, glad to hear you are doing well. Us slope Guys are hard to keep down!

Been following the Tennis US Open. Very interesting so far. We have some male Americans making some noise for a change. I do not know how far they will go in the tournement but we can hope for the best. Andy Roddick is in the mix but has not won anything of note for some time. I hope he can come through and go far in the running. As far as the females are concerned we of course have the Williams sisters carrying the banner for us. Some of the newer/younger players are looking very good.

New Orleans was not quite as lucky as we were but at least they were not devestated like they were with Katrina.

Just one more day that I will have to read about the RNC. Tampa really got carried away with this convention.

Next week will be busy. Have a Doctors appointment Tuesday(Allergist), get paid late (Sept4th) because of Labor day so will have to get to the bank also and to Walgreens for prescriptions. Have to finalize cruise plans also. Weather here is hot & humid but it should dry out some pretty soon. The people in the drought in the midwest would love to have some of our rain. We are 12" above normal for the year so far. :drunken:

Happy Saturday, 1st of September to you all. While I am at it, Happy Labor Day on Monday.

Anthony I played the feel good you put on here and it got me a good start for the day.

Terry, We did not go near Tampa during the Convention. We seldom go there anyways. We do go to the Seminole Casino about once a month but that is no where near downtown.The only time I go to St Pete is for a ball game in Tropicana field if we have a bus going there and the price is right. Now they charge according to the team they are playing. The Yankees and the Red Sox cost $53. To me that is a lot of money for a ball game!

Judy & Patsy, We are both feeling pretty good today. We take it one day at a time. My next Doctors visit is Tuesday when I see an allergist for the first time. Funny part is that since I made the appointment my sneezing and coughing have subsided quite a bit. I think Isaac blew some of the things I am allergic to away???Patsy we will be going to the Western Carribbean. Carol only wants to cruise out of Tampa and that is the only place all the lines go from Tampa. She will not travel all the ways across the State when we have ships going out 1/2 hour from our home. We will be going on Holland America. We cruise Holland America and Carnival and like them both.We are 2 Star Mariners on HAL and VIFP sailors on Carnival. Those things get you a few perks.

Where are the Brookln Dodgers? Oh that's right, they left in 1958 for more money and recently went broke in L.A.. That is IRONIC! #-o

Hi-hope u have a great time on your cruise Warren...I went on a Carnival Cruise in 2005 out of Tampa...had a great time..still looking at Florida homes..looking at Sun City Center...and Apollo Beach..can u tell me anything about these places? I can't make up my mind..I've been looking at 100's of homes in Florida & they all look so beautiful...now I'm confused..Judy...you made me laugh..it's been so long, I don't even remember those things happening with Justin..LOL..grandkids are so precious..just when u think u can't love anyone more than your kids-along comes a grandchild..the most wonderful feeling in the world...enjoy..well, getting late..relaxing tomorrow before I go back to work..have a great Labor Day everyone.......bye
