What happened to the staff at Amorina? — Brooklynian

What happened to the staff at Amorina?

Anyone know what happened to Aaron the chef and most of the regular wait staff at Amorina? Everyone there is new except for the unfriendly owners. I asked one of the waitresses whether Aaron had left and she looked really nervous and said, "Uhm, all I can say is that our head chef's name is not Aaron." So weird. And the service seems to have gotten all confused and slow. Bummer, I loved how welcome I always felt there.

  • Oh, no! Aaron is the best. I know he had been working fewer nights, and I was hoping with the news about the same owners taking over the Abigail's space that he might be prepping to go there.

I also always felt very welcome there. I will hate to lose it if it's changing. :(

  • I knew he'd moved on. But also, we went last night, and it was as good as ever.

  • Aaron has a catering business (Night Kitchen) that does quite well, and he'd felt like he'd done his thing at Amorina and wanted to try something new. I miss him there too, but he's moving on to good things. Not sure why the waitress was cagey. I don't think it was a bad split - he wasn't fired, he just decided to move on.

  • Thanks for the scoop, onandon! Glad to know it.

I will make a point of calling Night Kitchen for a quote if I ever need local catering...

  • Thanks for adding the link, mishaps! I've used them and can attest - both the food and service are fantastic!

  • Oh good! Thank you for clearing that up. Good for him - he's very talented. Still, I will miss him calling out my name when I come in to pick up my pizza.

  • i never met aaron, but wish him the best.

that said, we ate there tonight and the food was superb.

  • Thats funny because I always thought the opposite of their staff.

And I thought the owner was supposedly nice because he brought free food to forum members at the winter gathering.

  • The owner did bring complimentary pizza to the last Brooklyian Festivus.

...I like Amorina's lasagna the best, however.

  • Aaron has gone back to school at the French Culinary Institute if I'm correct. He continues to do his catering gigs as well. Amorina is a great community supporter, they have been very generous with donations to PS9.

  • Families seem to be central to Amorina's business. Lots of families with elementary and pre school children are there whenever I go.
