  • Flickering lights adds to the theatrical effect.

...it is happening in PH as well.

  • Busy night for the first responders of NYC

...just about every incident is weather related

  • Happening in Ditmas Park too

JEEBUS? Just kidding, All kidding aside could it be Con -Ed an electrical fire?

  • Let's list possibilities:

    a. Aliens

    b. transformer vs tree

    c. ??

P.S. Carrol Gardens reportedly lost power

Also, reports are that a tree branch hit a jogger in prospect park and s/he is in hospital. Gotta love NYers!

  • I think it was a or c. The lights have flickered here a few times and it's flickering a lot up in Harlem/Morningside Heights I hear.

I saw that on Gothamist. It's tragic. I loved that carousel

  • that is neat and people are crazy to go out and take pictures.

  • I wanna now hear from all the folks who just bought liquor, instead of supplies. I hope you folks are OK, and prepared to wait for stores to open.

    Whoa. That's scary as hell

  • OK. Here's a question for everyone's consideration: for those who sent in their absentee ballots and whose mailings were swept away in mail boxes thanks to all that flooding, how do you know your votes will be counted now?

  • So who lost their power or internet here? (I guess if you lost it you wouldn't be posting :-/ )

Surprisingly I still have my Verizon internet, but I heard people on TimeWarner got screwed.

  • My cablevision internet went out for a hot second, but otherwise it's been fine. Our lights were flickering a bit, but that's it. (Crown Heights)

  • Not even a blip. (TWC)

  • Our TWC was fine... No problems at all.

  • YAY! the internets as well as my power remained on for the duration of the storm. I have Verizon, and I live well above Sunset Park.

I would be VERY worried and actually call the election boards.

I know I moved way back in April and submitted my address change over the summer, yet when I called and inquired as to why I didn't get my new changed address registration form, they informed my that I am still registered at my old polling place. Huzzah! NY State crappy bureaucracy at it's finest. If you've had to take any licensing exam recently, you will be very aware of how utterly incompetent, NY state paper pushers are. Try to see if you can claim your ballot as lost and do a provisional one.

  • Same here. As a result of not working in Manhattan, I may even be able to get to work at some point this week.

    (for better or worse)

  • It seems alot of the areas next to the water is without power here. few blocks over next to me is out of power and such since 6pm last night.

  • We have power and net in south slope, but my friend in crown heights has no net and flickering power. Friend in astoria has no net.
