Car Service to JFK, will gas rationing screw me over on the regular fee?

who's taken a taxi or car service to the airport post-Sandy and did you get charged more then usual? Just wondering as I'm flying out thursday.

Can someone remind me again what is the fastest route? Take Eastern Parkway to something.. something... then Conduit Blvd?

  • Eastern Parkway to Atlantic Avenue Extension to Conduit...

  • ^yup^

Taking the LIRR to Jamaica and transferring to Airtrain might save you a bucks, but takes a a little longer.

  • I took a car service into Manhattan this week and the fare was $35. They aren't gas rationing, just "line rationing" based on license plates. And, from what I read TLC plates are exempt from that rule.

  • Maybe just take a car to an A train station and then go from there to Airtran, if you're trying to save bucks.

I hate taking a car to JFK (but I do it anyway). It usually takes longer than google maps says because of the timing of all the lights along the way, so give yourself a few extra minutes.

  • What used to cost me $7 on a Park Slope to Prospect Heights trip on Eastern now costs me $9 since Sandy.

  • Thanks everyone! I'm ok with paying for the car service, it's worth it for the convenience of getting me and my luggage to the airport without adding additional stress and inconvenience to an already annoying task of dealing with airport security and all that other BS.

I expect a certain amount of gouging, post-Sandy, I'm just curious as to how much...
