6mo Kitty - Rescue From My Backyard - ABANDONED, NOT FERAL! — Brooklynian

6mo Kitty - Rescue From My Backyard - ABANDONED, NOT FERAL!

When I moved in to my current residence, a mama cat & 5 little kittens were all abandoned in my back yard. One of the construction workers took a kitten, so there were only 5 remaining. Since then, they have all been placed in homes. We are still looking for homes for 2 of them, but they do have fosters. HOWEVER, I am posting about the return of one of the kittens. It appears it has returned, so maybe the man who took the kitten couldn't care for him anymore. He is INCREDIBLY friendly, but in need of a bath and good home. I will take the cat in for tests, shots & getting him fixed, but I cannot bring him inside which is what he needs.

This cat does NOT belong outside. He is used to being indoors & sits at my windowsill and cries all day & night wanting to come in. I have been feeding him twice a day so he can become stronger. The poor thing has a scar on his nose from a cat fight that has healed. Even when I feed him, if I look like I'm about to pet him, he will abandoned food for affection. Anyone who takes him will be loved for life from this little guy!

Please, if you or someone you know can open up your home, I would be forever grateful. Even looking for temporary fosters until we can find a place for this guy. He deserves a chance just like his mom & sibs.

Thank you!

  • I don't really understand this - you rescued the mom and kittens only to put one of them back outside that has been living in a home? This truly doesn't make sense. It's almost like you are abandoning the cat that you rescued. Interesting.

But regardless, contact Brooklyn Animal Action, Babara the Cat Lady, Infinite Hope, Empty Cages, Kitty Kind, Kensington Kitties, City Criters, ASPCA, Humane Society, BARC, Bide-A-Wee, Brooklyn Animal Foster Network, etc. Try to find a spot for her.

And you do realize that if this cat hasn't been spayed you are going to end up with a backyard full up kittens again, right? Calico cats are most always female. Check out getting it spayed through the Toby Project.

  • Leozoeypiper, I think what happened is that several of the cats were adopted, and then one of the adopted cats reappeared in the backyard months later.

Sounds like the OP is trying to do the right thing by taking the cat to the vet to get checked but can't actually take the cat into her/his home.

  • Any update?
