Cablevision ! — Brooklynian

Cablevision !

Has this every happened to you ? A Cable vision guy supposed to come - you wait the 3 hr window - they dont show. You call and Cablevision says the guy came to your house and you were not there (never mind you received 2 deliveries just fine in the 3 hour window). So Cablevision sets another time later that day and you leave your telephone contact again for the guy to come in the afternoon --- and the guy still doesnt show. You call and Cablevision says the guy did come during the afternoon and you were not there and he didnt have the number to call you on ?

What is going on ? Anyone else have such an experience ?

  • Happens to me ALL THE TIME.

The number one reason I get afterwards is that they can't call long-distance numbers and since I have a cell phone that I never changed the number for, they can't call me. I say bull to that since they okayed the phone number when I gave it to them and cell phones (Which they'd be calling from in the truck) don't deal with long-distance generally anyway.

That said, what I usually find is that they don't come for like 3 rounds of "yes, we'll be there during this window" and then when someone finally actually comes they are really great. I always like my Cablevision people who actually show - it's just a matter of getting them to show up.

But seriously, once I even was told they were coming between x:00 and y:00. At x:00, the start of the time slot, I called them to confirm. They said someone was on their way. At y:00, the end of the time slot, I called to find out why no one had come - and they said that no one answered the phone so they didn't come. It's an out-and-out lie, but all you can do is reschedule I guess. Good luck.

  • I've had the same problem. Cablevision is THE worst. The newest issue being internet speed. Streaming videos from Netflix are nearly impossible with the (average) 3mbs strength delivered to the house. If you call and ask, they claim the max is 15mbs. I was told by the service rep. that I should expect something like 10 with old wires in Crown Heights. Why the hell claim your internet speed is 15 if you then tell your customers to expect 10 when in reality they receive 3?!? I cannot wait for Fios to get here, even if the service doesn't improve, simply so Cablevision cannot steal our money any more. End of gripe.

  • At least you can get Cablevision. They have the franchise for my block, but never wired it, or many of the surrounding blocks in Lefferts Manor/PLG.

DirecTV works great and, the two times I've needed service calls (in the last 10 years) they've showed up exactly on time.OTOH I can only get DSL for "high Speed" internet service that isn't very.

  • Backin Brooklyn the solution to your problem is just to move

  • Here's a link to a petition that was recently started, in hopes of bringing Time Warner Cable services to the Central & Eastern areas of Brooklyn: https://www.change.org/petitions/time-warner-cable-of-nyc-bring-services-to-central-and-eastern-sections-of-brooklyn?utm_source=share_petition&utm_medium=url_share&utm_campaign=url_share_after_sign

  • Oh please if time Warner wants to come they will come eventually.

  • Will not happen.

Cable companies were granted exclusive licenses from the city for various neighbohoods. There isn't any possibility of competition from other companies until those licenses expire, which isn't happening any time soon.

  • Oh we'll I guess you'll just have to wait ! Sounds like the patent they have on drugs and we the consumer has to wait until the patent expires before it goes generic

  • The other day I had the opposite problem. A Cablevision tech came out when I hadn't asked for him and was not expecting him at all. It really threw me.

I was talking to a verizon tech a little while ago. Apparently they are installing Fios based on the number of requests they get. So call them all lot, listing your apartment as your residence, then call back as your neighbor etc. to log lots of requests in your building.
