Ice Cream for Nostrand and Prospect Place.

A fews months ago, we had thread about the changes coming to Nostrand in 2013:

A new ice cream opened right off Nostrand:

Its called BK Scoop. They have coffee, ice cream, pastries etc. Located right next to the elementary school on Prospect.

Now, our good friends over at Nostrand Park have visited:

It’s a little too chilly still for ice cream, but the concept could work. In speaking with the owner, she is focused on providing quality, all-natural ice cream products for the neighborhood (with the exception of the pistachio which has a green coloring for the kiddies!).

Home made ice cream and pastries – such as French vanilla, killer chocolate, coconut almond joy, cookie dough, ginger snap, and more.

and Yelp has some photos:

  • "Squeals with uncontrollable joy!"

  • Stopped in yesterday and tasted the strawberry, which was good but not amazing. I'll definitely be going back though -- all the exciting flavors I wanted to try (lavender, gingersnap molasses, salty pretzel caramel) were sold out because Tuesday is Kids Day with $1.50 scoops for the kiddies.

  • My belly is soooo not excited to have an ice cream place so close

  • Homemade ice cream at prices that don't need to support a high rent and fancy graphic design budget? Sounds awesome.

  • stopped by a couple of days ago and had the mocha and cookies and cream. the mocha was great, the cookies and cream was just okay. i eat a lot of ice cream (really) and its not the best i've had, but its definitely good and inexpensive. its also nice to walk to the corner and eat a cone on my stoop.

  • Walked by today and noticed the awning now says Kaffee JAC. In the corner of the awning it says (BK Scoop inc). I'm assuming they are operating as a cafe during the cold months and ice cream in the summer

Perhaps they will ALSO serve ice cream, but this looks like a new entity:

They must be testing the waters before they have their grand opening next month.
