Butchers in the area?

Any recommendations for a good butcher in the area? Preferrably on the Southern end of the Slope?

  • i forget the name of the store, but it's on
Propect Park West + 16 street
about 3 stores to the right of Farrell's
  • There is a food magazine you can pickup in Big Nose Full Body on 7th that lists all of the neighborhood butcher as well as a ton of other foodie stuff. Edible Brooklyn I think. Great read.
  • Here's an old thread about this topic (including my first post to Daily Heights).

  • Union Market, 6th Ave.@Union.
  • How about the pork store on 5th? That might be too far for you though, but they've got lots of meats and the guys are nice.

Uninteed Meat. Stroy: My sister in law usually shops at Staubitz. The other day she got her chopped meat at United. Went home and cooked it up and my 6 1/2 year old niece refused to eat it becaus it tasted funny. No more United Meat for them.

Anyway United grass fed ground beef $7.99 lb. Staubitz $4.99 lb
  • Been going to United for years, no problems with quality at all. They're full service and will give you what you want, how you want it. The sauces and crab cakes they sell are great, too.
  • i'll third (or fourth) the united meat recommendation. friendly, easy to deal with, fresh frozen ravioli or pre-made salads if you want them, really great cheese. and, of course, the meat.
