Yes, I figure that area will go upscale in the near future as well, but don't have any news that I can think of.

Re: The Armory at Bedford and Pacific. Despite a little money becoming available from the Boro Pres office and other sources, they need a way to get rid of the present use: Homeless Shelter for Men.

Given that the DHS system is bursting at the seams, I doubt they will be able to close it anytime soon.

In simple terms:

In the case of Park Slope, they were able to convince the courts that they could confine the shelter (which, in that case, serves women) to the front, and use the remaining space for recreation.

In the case of CH, they need more than just the front area to house the clients, and we have not been able to make as convincing of a speech that we would financially be able to maintain it as a rec center.

Note: For lots of reasons, moving the shelter isn't considered a realistic option at this time.
