Did the 77th pct just have a shooting-free Memorial Day Weekend? — Brooklynian

Did the 77th pct just have a shooting-free Memorial Day Weekend?

http://www.nyc.gov/html/nypd/downloads/pdf/crime_statistics/cs077pct.pdf

I know some of us might have heard what we thought were gunshots, and some of those probably were gunshots, but I think we just made it thru this holiday weekend without anyone being shot.

....this is so much nicer than it was in the past.

  • Seemed like a very chill weekend. Nice to finally see stats like that for a change.

  • The rain and cold weather on Friday and Saturday may have helped keep the violence down.

...but yes, this has been a nice start to summer.

  • High fives for everyone!

  • One of the most violent areas of the pct, this area:

    ,

has not had a shooting incident since February 26, 2013.

As of today, 5/28/2013, that is 91 days.

It has been over a year since we went that long without a shooting!

I don't have a map that depicts shootings in 2012, but they continued the decline that took place between 2010 and 2011.

    2013 is looking good....

  • This is good news indeed! Maybe we can have a violence free summer?

I'm doing my part I have not shot one (1) solitary person!

  • Every bit helps!

Needless to say, we have had some shootings, stabbings and general mayhem, but it does seem to be on the decline.

I hope to go the whole summer without spotting a handgun in some teen's waistband.

  • praise the LORD!
