Patch wrote: Police are looking for a man who shot a 41-year-old early this morning on Nostrand Avenue

The victim was walking on Nostrand Avenue between Lincoln and St. Johns places when someone shot him in his right arm and ran off, according to the 77th Precinct.

The victim said he didn't recognize the man and police do not yet know the reason for the shooting. He was taken to Kings County Hospital in stable condition, police said.

It is relatively rare that someone is shot by someone they do not know, and it isn't by mistake.

...this might be such a situation.

  • Or he doesn't want to tell the cops who shot him. That happens too.

  • I'd like a lot more details.

What time of the morning was it?

Why was he on Nostrand at that time?

Does he have a recent criminal record on or near Nostrand?

    Was this a failed robbery?

    ...we will probably never know.

  • The fact they didn't say what time the shooting happened is kinda of an odd over sight. Especially since the police want the public's help.

  • According to Spotcrime, it happened at 4:41 am.

  • Thanks pitmama.

I hope the injured was wearing something like an Office Cleaner's uniform, and coming home from work.

While this detail might lead ME to suspect that he was more likely to be an innocent victim, the real impact would be on him: It might mean that he has the type of job that will provide him with sick time and health insurance.

    ...he's going to need it.

  • I fear an office cleaner or someone coming home from work at five in the morning is unlikely to have insurance. I do hope he does have insurance.

  • We will likely never know.
