Street Sales

Thinking of holding a street sale sometime in the next few weeks and being new to the neighborhood, I would like to know if any street sale protocol exists. I do not want to hold my sale in front of my building--there is not that much foot traffic--and was thinking of propping myself up on a milk crate at busy corner. Any info would be helpful. Thanks.

doing it infront of your own building is fine, but doing it some where else might get you ticketed.

you can always do like other people on side blocks do, and put up flyers on the main aves, or write in chalk on the sidewalk to direct people to your stoop sale...

Technically the city shuns anyone that is trying to sell anything on the streets. In fact they have the right to take your goods if you don't have a vending license, but it shouldn't be an issue in Prospect Heights.

There is a street is street sale that is run by http://www.calabar-imports.com The event takes place on Washington Ave and is fully licensed to do so. You can stop there are inquire. There is plenty of foot traffic on Washington Ave.

Don't plan on selling this weekend, there will be plenty of cops in the area, and they are usually agitated with the events.

I have seen people set up on Park & Carlton right outside the Q stop (like across from Little Miss Muffin).
