808 Park - Any Thoughts?

Hope you all won't mind a question from a long-time reader who's never posted before! My roommate and I have lived around the neighborhood for a few years now and we're looking at an apt in 808 Park Place. I normally like to do some research on a place before signing a lease, but haven't been able to find much. If anyone has any insight - good, bad or neutral - I'd love to hear it. Thanks.

  • Maybe you'll be moving into the place this guy vacated: http://www.brooklynian.com/forums/topic/about-30-cops-on-park-pl

    HA! Kidding!

  • Hey, I live in 809 Park. As mamacita posted, I did see that incident happen, though I don't know what the inside of the building looks like. Both my fiancée and I have felt safe here. There's the "Roger That" community garden on the end of the block, Met and Key Food 2 blocks away in opposite directions, Nostrand laundry around the block, Connecticut Muffin, Lula Bagel and Nostrand Pub is a short walk. The block is not without it's problems though. There are a few young men who are out most hours of the day who are nice and friendly but deal drugs openly. I have heard a few gunshots here and there as well. Despite that, I really do love our block. It's changed alot in the last two years I've been at 809. 808 seems like they are trying to do what my building did and renovate the old apartments. They also just had a welder come and put up some metal so people can't sit on the ledges anymore.

If you don't mind me asking, is the apartment one/two bedroom? How much? Our building is rent stabilized and my thoughts were that the other buildings were as well. Hope some of that helped and can answer more questions for you if you have.
