Meet and Greet Charles Barron, Candidate for Congress — Brooklynian

Meet and Greet Charles Barron, Candidate for Congress

Hi Neighbors, I live on Wyckoff Street near Smith. I
am hosting a Meet and Greet for Charles Barron, a City
Council Member who is running to defeat incumbent Ed
Towns in the 10th Congressional district.

Please stop by NY Perks on Tuesday, September 5th
between 6 and 7:30 PM
. NY Perks is located at 193
Smith Street, between Warren and Baltic. Council
Member Barron will be there to introduce himself and
answer questions.

I've know Charles Barron for the past three years. He
is extremely principled and always willing to fight
for those principles. He has been a consistent critic
of the Atlantic Yards project, as well as the war in
Iraq.
See his website barronforcongress.com for more
information.

Please forward this to all your neighbors. (The 10th District is made up of Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn Heights, Jamaica Bay, East New York, Carnsie, Brownsville, and parts of Fort Greene and Boerum Hill.) If you are not sure if you're in this district, here is a map:

I am sure that when you meet Charles, you will feel
there is no candidate more suitable to represent us in
Congress than him
. Please come find out for yourself
at NY Perks on September 5th between 6 and 7:30 PM.

Thank you.

  • Did you see this article? What is Barron's response to having the lowest attendance of all city councilmen?

    http://www.ny1.com/ny1/NewsBeats/politics.jsp
  • He was on NY1 last night and responded to this by saying that he had perfect attendance at meetings, but did not attend committee hearings, prefering to let his staff handle them so he could "respond to the community directly".

While I think its okay to miss an odd committee meeting here or there, missing this many is pretty bad. After all, the purpose of the committees are to resolve issues related to the various subject areas and having your staff come back and relay what happened is no where near as valuable as being there yourself. Its kind of like going to class when you are a student. Its a pain in the ass sometimes, but you get far more out of it than you do from taking your classmate's notes and studying on your own.

But I'm biased because I don't like Barron.

Come talk to Charles Barron about that question and others tonight, at NY Perks on Smith Street from 6 to 7:30 pm. Thanks, Kate
