Brooklynian 2013 end of Summer Gathering, Tuesday, Sept 3rd — Brooklynian

Brooklynian 2013 end of Summer Gathering, Tuesday, Sept 3rd

A new BBQ place will soon open on Nostrand at Union:

http://www.brooklynian.com/forums/topic/813-nostrand-and-union-about-to-open-as-a-bbq-place

I plan to eat there on Thursday, Sept 5th at 7 PM.

I would like it if you joined me.

  • I'll be there.

  • Are you asking for a date?

  • tsarina-

Rather than ask for a date, I established one: September 5th.

  • Will you have a corsage for each attendee?

  • I think that would scare away newbies.

  • woo hoo!!!

  • I'm vegetarian. Any thoughts of drinks after eating?

  • Ms. Whynot is also a vegetarian. The two of you can probably get together, eat some vegetables, and then join us afterward wherever we go for beverages.

Also, if the BBQ place does not (for some reason) get its act together to open by Sept 5, I hereby decree we will instead go one of the veggie places on Nostrand.

  • Speaking as a non-BBQ-eating flexitarian, all these possibilities sound like they'll abound with good company. Here's hoping I can go that evening.

    Dear G. Lee,

When do you think you will be able to have your Grand Opening?

    Sincerely,

    (real name)

    Dear (real name),

Thanks for your inquiry and patience. Our expected opening was July 1 however we suffered delays with city agencies. We are now looking at Mid-Sept. Please stay updated with our website for further notice.

I will add you to my email list to send comps to you for party of two.

    Thanks again for your patience.

    Best Regards,

    Dixie & Dallas

    Vegetarians and Flexitarians-

You are now welcome to suggest someplace on (or near) Nostrand Avenue that we should eat.

It should be one of the places that will let us eat in.

  • How about that Catfish place? Hopefully they will actually be serving catfish

  • That place has been open a while, and I have already eaten there.

I want to try someplace new.

If we moved the date to Sept 3rd or before, we could include any observant Jews we have as readers.

Ms. Whynot stated she won't be able to join us because holidays begin this year on Sept 4:

For the Hebrew year 5774, Rosh Hashana will be celebrated on Wednesday evening, Thursday & Friday, September 4, 5, and 6 and Yom Kippur on Friday evening and Saturday, September 13 & 14.

...However, she also points out that she would love an additional evening without me around.

So, how about a place on Nostrand that allows sitdown, like Trinidad Golden Palace II or Glorias?

We could also just do take out and eat it in the back yard of Nostrand Avenue Pub and/or just make this event about beer.

  • Oops! I too will be a no-show on Rosh Hashonah. Maybe I'll see Mrs. WhyNot at temple.

Could we just make this entirely about beer? =P~

  • Our Spring Gathering was entirely about beer, and occurred at Nostrand Pub shortly after its grand opening.

Grain is an important part of the food pyramid.

  • I vote Nostrand Avenue Pub but we all bring our favorite take-out from the neighborhood to eat with our beers so we can tell each other where we all *should* have eaten

  • Sounds like a plan.

Are people free on Tuesday, September 3rd? This revised plan would allow the following groups to attend:

    - people who don't eat, but do drink

    - people who eat vegetables, but not meat

    - people who eat vegetables and meat

    - people who are observant Jews

    - people who want to observe us, but aren't sure whether they want to talk to us.

  • Sounds good!

  • Time and location change:

    Tuesday, September 3rd

    8 PM

    Nostrand Avenue Pub

See anyone and everyone interested then.

    Mods-

Please change the title of this to read.

Brooklynian 2013 end of Summer Gathering, Tuesday, Sept 3rd

    thanks

  • Observant Jew here! I was hoping someone else would speak up about changing the date! I hope to be there! (I know I'm not a "regular" around here, but I want to meet more people in the neighborhood, and you guys seem cool :) )

  • DL-

I can say without a doubt that we are among the coolest, best looking people in the area.

However, it remains to be seen whether us changing the date will cause Ms. Whynot to join us.

  • I'll have to come judge for myself!

  • I will be there!

  • Its the day we've all been looking forward to. wont miss it.

  • I have been told some old timers will show up, but don't know whether to trust them.

When one gets old, one often becomes unreliable.

  • Why, you young whippersnapper, you!

  • Ms. Whynot has stated she will come.

One can see we are starting to look alike after spending all of these years together:

  • She just seems a little more blurry...

  • She has only 66 total posts.

    http://brooklynian.com/forum/profile/mrs-whynot

As a result of posting over 17,000 times, I have become sharper than her.

  • What about all the people returning (or not yet returned) from a Labor Day weekend vacation?

I think the following week would probably be better for many of us. Alternatively, perhaps we could just have another gathering later in Sept.?
