Little Miss Daisy the Cat Needs a Home (Rescued Cat)

“DAISIES ARE LIKE SUNSHINE TO THE GROUND.” Drew Barrymore

Daisy was found in a run-down backyard in the Park Slope area of Brooklyn. She is an 8 year-old domestic short-hair cat with a beautiful tortoiseshell coat. When I first met her she was skinny and she had irregular breathing. She was also out in the heat wave, and was not drinking any water! It wasn’t long before I came to realize that she was also deaf. She was also the sweetest and most trusting cat I had ever come across.

Long story short, Daisy needed help. I called every shelter in the city for help and no one could help her. I ended up taking her to Animal Care and Control. I was determined to get her back with me once she received medical attention and was adoptable. I didn’t want Daisy to be put to sleep when she could make such a wonderful pet for one lucky family. I adopted her from Animal Control in hopes that I could find her a permanent placement. I unfortunately am not allowed to keep pets in my apartment or she would definitely stay with me!

Thankfully, my landlord is allowing me to house her in my basement until I find her a permanent home. Daisy has been dewormed, is flea free, and she is regaining weight and energy with each passing day. Overall she is very healthy. She has had all of her shots and has tested negative for FELV and FIV. She has not been spayed, but I will be facilitating this procedure once she is at a healthy weight. The veterinarian wanted to wait until she had gained a few pounds before putting her under anesthesia.

I know that Daisy would make a great pet for any family. She is getting lonely and bored in her current foster situation. She dreams of a window to look out of, some people to cuddle with, and a caring family of her very own! Daisy loves people and begins to purr the second you walk into a room with her. She is also very tolerant of children (the kids I baby-sit for pet her and pick her up and she adores them). Though she is deaf, she doesn’t startle easily. She actually has a very calm and almost meditative quiet about her. Daisy has had a rough time for a bit, and I would like nothing more than to give her the chance to live out the rest of her life with the love and safety she deserves.

Please contact me if you are interested in more information about making Daisy a part of your family. You won’t regret it!

  • Daisy is beautiful! She's actually a muted calico, that's what her coloring is called. I had a cat once similar to Daisy, same coloring and texture fur, who I adopted as an older adult cat in college and she lived over ten years longer after that. She was an absolute joy. Sweetest thing ever. I would take Daisy except I have an 11 year old female cat who hates other cats. She just goes crazy when she sees one. Good luck finding Daisy a home!!
  • Sadly I have to report that Daisy has passed, due to internal injuries noone knew about. Thank you, Sarah, for making her last weeks on earth more comfortable.
