Park Slope's Grand Central Oyster Bar

Grand Central Oyster Bar, one of the city's finest venues in which to pretend you're a 1950s businessman, is opening an outpost in Park Slope, sources close to the restaurant confirmed today.

The storied dining hall is rumored to be taking over the former Fornino location at 256 5th Avenue, which has sat vacant since the pizzeria abruptly closed earlier this year. For awhile, actress Debi Mazar and her husband Gabriele Corcos were poised to open their own eatery in the triple-storefront space, but negotiations with the building's owner fell through at the last minute. "The rumor was true," Mazar tweeted in April. "Was abt to take over Il Fornino space in Park Slope.Landlord tripled rent and wants McDonalds or Olive Garden:( sorry PS."

The restaurant, which features delightfully kitschy decor and an eclectic seafood menu hand-written daily, currently has three other outposts—one in Newark airport, and two in Tokyo. The Park Slope branch is expected to open for business by the end of the year.

"I'm sorry sir, we are out of the soft shell crabs."

    "Ok, I'll have the swordfish."

"I'm sorry sir, we are out of the swordfish as well. There is, however, plenty of mackerel salad left..."
