What will the ground floor of 645 Washington (near Bergen) become?
The application has been requested by an entity known as Moot Bar.
If successful, they would have a full liquor lic and use their back yard.
They are scheduled to appear on Monday, September 9, 2013 at 6:30 PM.
CNR-Center Light Health Care Center, which is located at 727 Classon Avenue, Brooklyn, NY (between Park and Prospect Place).

Meanwhile at the other end of the block, the 6-story new build at 645 Washington (next to the little Jamaican-owned garage) has a CB8 notice up stating that "Dome Ventures d/b/a Moot Hall" wants to open a bar with backyard garden serving beer/wine/liquor.Apparently a Moot Hall is a thing: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moot_hall
The death-slow gentrification march north along Washington continues...

Subsequently I've noticed the same notice posted simultaneously on the adjacent storefront at 647 Washington.
Seems they're proposing to combine both old and new retail spaces into one larger entity (or someone got confused when taping up notices).
If the former is true, this is an interesting development.

These people didn't show up at the Committee Mtg on Sept 9th.

There was a CB8 liquor license meeting this evening I believe. Did anyone make it?
There's a NIMBY (literally) petition to block the license given that the properties abut a residential building with rear balconies and back yards. A number of residents had planned to attend (the meeting coincided with tonight's big thunder storm). Curious if anyone made it (including the applicants).

They did not attend.
Our next opportunity to find out if they are still interested in doing this is Monday, October 7th.

Oct 14:
They did not show up on Oct 7.However, I have since learned that they did show up at the Sept mtg. I seem to have inferred they did not appear in Sept because they were apparently told to come back with additional info before Cb8 would make a decision.
(bad logic leap)Regardless, they have now decided that it is not worth their while, and have withdrawn their application:
All of which leads us to wonder, what will 645 become?

Bump. Still not much activity going on there from what I can see. The funny thing is that the ground floor of this place used to be a mosque, which subsequently moved to Bergen between Washington and Grand.

Here's an old listing for the site:
http://www.corcoran.com/nyc/Listings/Display/2270772
Although it says "leased", we don't have a date.
So, I don't think we should conclude there is presently a tenant lined up for this space.
Howdy, Stranger!
