38th Annual Flatbush Frolic, Saturday, Sept 15th
FDC wrote: The Flatbush Development Corporation (FDC)’s 38th Annual Flatbush Frolic
street fair is fast approaching! Join us on Cortelyou Road, between Ocean and
Coney Island Avenues (in the heart of Victorian Flatbush), on Sunday,
September 15th from 12:00pm to 6:00pm. The Frolic will be filled with food,
children’s rides, merchandise and arts & crafts vendors.This year’s main stage music will include performances by DECOSTER, The
Encounters, Omni Ensemble, Stanley John Mitchell, Nonlee High Teen Boogie,
Jason Yeager, Jeanine Truly with Jumping Jazz, Grey Sky Appeal, Dirty Mike &
The Boize, Roopa, Khel and Catahoula Cajun Band. In addition to music, we are
proud to feature dance and movement performances by Latin Fever Dance Studio,
Cynthia Dance Studio, Midwood Martial Arts, and Namaste Yoga.Unique to the Flatbush Frolic is the “Just For Kids” area at the Tot Lot
Playground, hosted by Midwood Martial Arts. Children and their parents will be
entertained by Sparkle the Fairy Princess, experience hands on science
experiments with Kiddie Science, sing along with Musical Explorers, and watch
Nathan Thompson’s amazing magic show. Expectant parents can learn about
HypnoBirthing with Sara Kramer of Gentle Birthing New York and Baby Be Safe
will demonstrate First Aid and CPR. FDC’s after school program will host fun
craft projects, and all children can participate in kids’ karate, gymnastics
and yoga mini-classes with Midwood Martial Arts Instructors. Best of all,
these interactive sessions are all FREE!Be sure to visit the FDNY’s Mobile Fire Safety Experience, or “Smoke House”
trailer. Children and adults have a chance to enter the Smoke House – which is
filled with artificial smoke – and practice fire evacuation techniques. Donate
your used eyeglasses to Grace Eye Care, who will be out collecting on behalf
of Glasses for Haiti. Additionally, P.S. 139 P.A. invites you to compete
against the Chess Ninjas, 2012 National Chess Champions, and don’t forget to
check out the non-for-profit area featuring information about all of the
programs that FDC and other local organizations have to offer.Local business are coming out to share their wears, talents, food, and drinks,
so come see what Cortelyou Road is famous for. Join San Remo’s pizza eating
contest, check out Brooklyn Artery’s arts and crafts exhibitions, pick up
medical brochures offered by Greenfield Pharmacy, drink at the Cortelyou Beer
and Wine Garden (hosted by Sycamore, Bar 773 and Costello Plan), and visit our
local vendors, including The Farm on Adderley, Bar Chord, Coffee Mob, Flatbush
Food Coop, Connecticut Muffin, and Purple Yam.We look forward to seeing you on Sunday, September 15th. This event is not to
