There's a new reform movement in Brooklyn, and we're associated with the people in this article:
http://www.villagevoice.com/2010-09-08/columns/obama-s-troops-take-on-vito-lopez/
As of 9/14, I will be the Country Committeeman (an unpaid unglamorous position in the Democratic Party) for my Election District covering Flatbush to Carlton to Bergen. Several of us have also done the work necessary to earn this obscure position- basically, we had to get 50-100 signatures for people in our 2-3 block area.
We are working for more transparency in the Brooklyn Democratic structure, which currently brings us corrupt judges and a development process based on patronage. The current head of the Brooklyn Democratic Party is Vito Lopez, and the previous head was Clarence Norman, who is sitting jail after being convicted of several counts of corruption.
Our new club is lead by mostly people in their 30s, give or take a decade. A lot of us have worked in City government, so we know how the sausage is made. -
We're meeting again TONIGHT 9/19/2013 at 732 Washington Avenue near Prospect.
We'll talk about the recent primary election and the upcoming races.
Howdy, Stranger!
