Another new business for Union and Franklin: 1032 Union = Italian Restaurant — Brooklynian

Another new business for Union and Franklin: 1032 Union = Italian Restaurant

The storefront with the blue awning on the left is becoming an Italian Restaurant

Longtime readers will remember this as formerly the site of Roti and Dumplings, Kathy's Kitchen, A Taste Delicious....

I'm told renovations are presently underway.

  • I believe this is probably the store next to the blue awning. It's really small, the previous restaurants were all take out.

On another note, the pizza place on Franklin (Nino's) does not seem to be re-inventing itself as an Italian cafe.

So this new place won't have any competition from them.

    Best of luck!

  • I'm not sure what the delay is with Nino's, or if they have cancelled their plans.

Nino's seems like it may be able to withstand the changing scene without too many changes to its menu.

  • this place is not currently under renovations... the current restuarant was open last night.

  • I suspect it will be renovated soon.

My source has access to the forms which alert the DOH to new owners, and requests for initial inspections. The forms are reportedly often filed very early in the process, because DOH takes a long time to give a place permission to open. A DOH inspector has to visit....

  • Whynot and Bernstein

  • The stories I break are seemingly less exciting than Watergate.

Needless to say, sometimes the plans of the aspiring restaurant and bar owners never come to fruition, so what may become a story never really does...

  • I take it back then... sounds like your source is no deep throat.

    :)

  • Even when plans don't com to fruition, I think they are interesting.

Most people don't realize how many eyes are watching this area, and how often properties are changing hands. As a result, they conclude the changes are "sudden".

...no, the changes are merely "relatively quick".

  • Nov 21:

I've received a postcard that informs me of this place. It seems to serve mostly vegetarian food, along with some fish.

    They have a website....
