Here's how a travel site is describing Western CH

I thought about describing the article, but you really should look at the link to see it for yourself

  • Wow. I didn't realize my neighborhood was so fancy.

  • lots of things to think about re: that article.

  • This might be a first -- a headline that says Crown Heights where half of the places listed are in Prospect Heights, instead of the other way around.

  • Yes, as a result of the area between Vanderbilt and Nostrand becoming very similar, I expect to see more articles like this.

Part of this stems from me thinking that everything West of Vanderbilt is virtually part of Park Slope.

...meanwhile, I think of the area between Nostrand and Kingston as also similar.

So, in my mind, three "neighborhoods" exist between the arena and Kingston Ave.

  • The owner of Wedge and Little Zelda single handedly changing the neighborhood?! Is the writer is bff?

  • The same owner operates Wedge, Little Zelda, It Takes a Village and Hullabaloo.

...I view him as certainly knowing what a part of the demographic wants and is willing and able to support.

  • Let's not mistake capitalizing on a neighborhood that was already well on its way to changing with either "single-handedly transforming" or "willing to support". Much of what's being done is seeing an opportunity and trying to capitalize on it, which is great and in at least Wedge and Little Zelda, relatively well executed (nice little quality spaces that serve a consumer desire).

  • Correct: No one single handedly changes a neighborhood.

BTW, if we are going to try to hand out credit/blame for causing the neighborhood to change, I would want to point to Alma Realty.

They turned a vacant hospital complex into an economic engine of over 1000 apartments, which threw fuel onto an already burning fire.

  • Also, dont forget this is a start-up travel website that looks to be 'crowd-sourcing' their material. Quite likely the site will be fun and entertaining, but a Paper of Record it ain't.

  • Am I just lazy, or would that be an incredibly busy morning? Start at Tom's, go to the Museum, then the Botanic Garden (protip: don't bring your picnic in, they don't allow outside food), the the zoo and/or carousel, then back up to Blue Marble.

So swanky around here; only one place on Vanderbilt, and that's just a mention of Milk Bar's relationship to Sunshine Co.

  • Ha, I've had days like that.

We are members at the garden, so we use it as a shortcut to the zoo/carousel. I guess not now since they shut down the Flatbush entrance.
